The High Cost of Ignorance

Introduction

Ignorance will always ultimately invite both captivity and death.

Just about a week ago, out of Iraq came the news two of our own were seized by masked Iraqis, quickly tried in an Islamic court, and found guilty as charged by the same.

Because of their guilt, they were summarily dealt the order of the court: death by slaughter, according to the law of Allah, which is the law that governs the Islamic Republic of Iraq.

In that horror, we saw the macabre proof of the high cost of ignorance--our leaders have left the troops in their commands plum ignorant on the facts of Islam. Unless our troops find a means to learn of it on their own—kin to bringing their own sidearm to war.

Just yesterday, I read one more account attesting to the fact that our leaders have flat failed to inform the troops beneath their command on the basic tenets of Islam.

Jesus said, “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” The tacit opposite there is being unaware of the truth will enslave you.

President Lyndon B. Johnson said it clear in his 4 January 1965 Annual Message to the Congress on the State of the Union when he stated, echoing words spoken by Thomas Jefferson, "no nation can be both ignorant and free . . .  no nation can be both ignorant and great.

I add to that, “No nation can choose ignorance and be. “

I’ve heard some say “Freedom is not free.”

Indeed, it is not. Moreover, neither is ignorance. Ignorance, as does Freedom, comes with a high price.

And we have just seen the high price tag of leaving our troops ignorant on Islam.

Army Spc. David J. Babineau, Army Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, and Army Pfc. Thomas Tucker—all, victims of ignorance.

Victims of Islam

Spc. Babineau, was executed by gunshot; the two Privates were seized, tried and slaughtered within the full jurisdiction of the Law of Allah, which is the law that governs the Islamic Republic of Iraq---all we need do is to read Iraq’s constitution to see that, as well as read the Shariah Law.

The following is an excerpt of a work I aim to finish and publish as soon as possible; it’s called “down the river.”

It will show in detail, the facts that fully support the above opening statements.

In recent comments he made in a news conference from Baghdad, Army Maj. Gen. James D. Thurman, who commanded the units these troops were a part of, also revealed his benightedness on the role of Islam in Iraq and in the Iraqis.

He did so when he said, speaking of the Iraqis who carried out Allah’s judgment on our two sons, the Gen. said that those who committed the act would be brought to justice, “because they're operating outside the rule of law.”

But he is misinformed there. I will prove that. As a mother of an American soldier, I am duty bound to.

Note, Article 2, from the draft of the Iraqi constitution [1]:

·        First: Islam is the official religion of the State and it is a fundamental source of legislation:

·        No law that contradicts the established provisions of Islam may be established

From Article 3:

·        Iraq is a country of many nationalities, religions and sects and is a founding and active member of the Arab League and is committed to its covenant. Iraq is a part of the Islamic world.

From Article 13:

·        First: This constitution is the sublime and supreme law in Iraq and shall be binding in all parts of Iraq without exception.

·        Second: No law shall be enacted that contradicts this constitution. Any text in any regional constitutions or any other legal text that contradicts it is deemed void.

In plain English, that reads this way:

·        There is no other law in Iraq but Allah’s law, as referred to in Article 2, 3, and 13 of this constitution.

·        All laws written above or beneath these listed articles in this Constitution, if in contradiction to the Law of Allah, which is the Shariah, are null and void.

In the Sunnah, proving our General in error, tenets taken from Sahih Bukhari, which contains orders that make up those in the Shariah Law [1] :

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 283:

Narrated Abu Juhaifa:

I asked Ali, "Do you have the knowledge of any Divine Inspiration besides what is in Allah's Book?" 'Ali replied, "No, by Him Who splits the grain of corn and creates the soul. I don't think we have such knowledge, but we have the ability of understanding which Allah may endow a person with, so that he may understand the Qur'an, and we have what is written in this paper as well." I asked, "What is written in this paper?" He replied, "(The regulations of) blood-money, the freeing of captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed for killing an infidel."

Given these facts, given our troops are in Iraq and surrounded by those who aim to govern their lives by the Law of Allah, seems elementary we would want to know just what that law is.

Wouldn’t you agree?

In the Hebrew Scripture in the book of Hosea, verse six, we read, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (NASU)

Indeed, they are—how long will we stand by?

How long will we be happily ignorant on Islam; believing, as these terrible unfortunate troops likely believed, in the lies our leaders tell us of the nobleness, and the peacefulness of the religion?

How long will we happily pay the high price tag that is fast to willing ignorance and needless blindness to the facts on Islam?

How long?
