Islam Under Scrutiny by Ex-Muslims

'No More': A Song is Born

To the owners of this website,

Because of the current turmoil our world finds itself I have taken to educate myself about Islam and it's teachings and what I've learned is frightening. I must admit the attempt to be open minded about the subject in spite of the events of 9-11 because at that time I had no idea just how much of the terrorist's ideology stemmed from the teachings and life history of Muhammad. The fact that he was a blood-thirsty, insecure pedophile was completely unknown.

When I began my quest for knowledge I turned to pro-Islam sources but found them lacking in clarity when denouncing terrorism and the constant insinuation that Israel and American foreign policy are to blame for all that is wrong in the Islamic world became very stale. What eventually became clear is that the "moderate" voice of Islam, if such a thing exists, was no where to be found in official circles. I judged this to be so when I could find no one willing to look inwardly at Islam as the possible cause and/or source of the vitriol spewed from the mouths of the terrorist leaders and the horrific actions undertaken by their followers. I found the claims of the terrorists, that their actions are inspired by Islam, and the so-called denouncement of terrorism by Islamic leaders to be inconsistent and contradictory.

Then I found The Sandmonkey. An Egyptian blogger who like most Muslims was born into the religion but believes strongly in secularism and individuality. Both concepts, I've learned, are an anathema to Islam with no place in Islamic society. From there I found many opinions, pro and con, about Islam. The first thing I learned was that pro-Islamists are very intolerant of criticism. To mention that Islam in any way could be violent or may preach hate brought accusations that the writer was a: crusader, Zionist, Islamaphobe, American imperialist, Bush apologist, etc. If a verse from the Quran was quoted or reproduced verbatim the pro-Islamist would simply state that it's out of context or a bad translation or "interpreted" wrong. What I began to notice was a very consistent pattern of refusing to acknowledge the substance of the quotes in question. There may have been some attempts but they certainly didn't stand out enough for me to remember them.

Then I found THIS site and I want to thank you. As a human of conscience I do not want to believe that a religion practiced by so many people could be founded in hate and intolerance, but alas it seems to be so. That there is no mechanism within Islam to self criticize or challenge Islamic doctrine makes me very worried for the future. But you people give me hope. Your courage to speak out is inspiring and to that end I choose to speak out to those I can reach. I am a musician so my chosen forum will be the music I create and perform in various venues here in California where I live. My audience obviously won't be Muslims but other Americans who are ignorant of the threat posed by those who follow Muhammad's teachings to the letter. It's very frustrating that our media and some politicians have been so seduced by their blind hatred of President Bush that they fail or refuse to recognize the threat to modern civilization.

Below are the lyrics to my first song about Islam. It's intended to be a subtle message to those who simply "don't know". As I learn more and become better educated more intense messages will follow. Any and all input from those of you who know Islam best will be greatly appreciated and credited. When the song is recorded I'll forward you a copy in a suitable format so that you can hear it. I hope you like Rock with an Alternative edge to it.

Thank you for your site. Thank you for your courage.

No More

What I put forth doesn’t necessarily reflect the views
Of my closest friends
But I must say that it’s only because they don’t know
What I know
I can’t be silent
I can’t be silent no more

Chorus:
Not for even one more day
Or even one more hour
Not another minute more
Not one second more
No more
No more
No more

Now before I begin let’s get one thing clear that I’m not
Full of hate
I’ve just opened my eyes and what I’ve seen scares the
Shit out of me
We can’t keep our eyes closed
We can’t keep our eyes closed no more

Chorus

Solo/Bridge

“Fear not the Apostates who speak the truth
To the biggest lies perpetrated on humanity
See for yourself how the “good man” slaughtered thousands
For not believing a lie”

We’re not to believe when we see evil
We’re not to believe our own eyes
We’re told to believe that it’s our fault
We’re told to submit but I say “NO”

Chorus x2
