Islam Under Scrutiny by Ex-Muslims

Ways and Means of Fighting Islamofascism, Part 2

Organizations to Safeguard Freedom

International community, especially the non-Islamic peoples, must understand that Islam will never recognize liberty and freedom and live in harmony in the free and liberal societies. As their numbers grow, they will create more and more pressure on them to censure these fundamental values of their societies which are all too evident all over the Western and the non-Islamic world. The situation would only get worse.

But most Western governments are not willing to take necessary measures to safeguard the freedom and liberty. In stead, they are willing to sell away these most valuable ingredients of modern civilized society to appease and accommodate the unreasonable demands and sensitivities of the Muslims, sometimes out of naivety and yet for political reasons, such as vote-buying, at other times.

As governments are not willing to stand up for safeguarding the liberty and freedom in the West, individuals and groups, who hold these ingredients of their societies dear to their hearts must come forward and create national and international organization to protect as well as promotes liberty, individual freedom, democracy, gender-equality, freedom of expression and secularism. These organizations must take a united stand against the encroachment of Islam into their societal system and values. They must undertake active programs to spread awareness about Islamofascism and its danger to free and liberal societies.

Focus Saudi Arabia

The root of the resurgence of political Islam, starting in the 1920s, lies in Saudi Arabia. Once again, it is the Saudi money and its active promotion puritanical Wahabi doctrine around the world, that changed the face of Islam and the Muslims especially after the oil-price boom in the early 1970s. Apart from that, Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia and the location of Islam’s holiest cities, namely the Mecca and Medina, makes the Saudi kingdom the most revered place for the Muslim faithful. These issues make the Saudi Arabia the most critical factor in the fight against the assaults of Islamofascism.

If Saudi Arabia changes, not only the whole of Middle-East, but also the entire community of Muslims will change. The whole world should pressurize Saudi Arabia to change. Saudi Arabia should become a modern, liberal, secular democracy. Trying to promote democracy and freedom in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq did not help but instead, the situation has gotten worse. The whole middle-east is on the brink now. So it is important to focus on Saudi Arabia. Let the wind of change dissipate across the Islamic world from there.

Drawing cartoons of Allah

Criticizing, caricaturing and ridiculing Islam is a critical step in the scheme of creating tolerance amongst the Muslims. So long, Muslims get used to the fact that others have the rights to scrutinize their religion and even caricature its irrational doctrines; they will never the able to respect freedom and liberty of a free society. They must realize that if they want to live in tolerance and harmony with the non-Islamic peoples, they have to inculcate the same tolerance which the Christians, Jews and Hindus have inculcated about the criticisms and ridicules of their respective religions.

Although, non-Muslims do not want to hurt the Muslims, they must also realize that there is no alternative to hurting in order to inculcate tolerance in them. However, drawing the caricatures of Muhammad drew a reaction from the Muslims, which the world may not dare trying another time. They can probably change focus from Muhammad to Allah, the Islamic God. Historically, criticisms and mocking of Allah hav been more tolerated by the Muslims than those of Muhammad. Medieval-age Islamic heretic and poet, Abdullah al-Ma’arri (973-1057) had said ‘says whatever you want about Allah but not about the Prophet’.

Muslims have been extremely intolerant of the criticism of Muhammad. Drawing cartoons of Muhammad will incite stronger reactions among the Muslims. We should turn attention on caricaturing Allah in the first instance. We should make them realize how stupid it is to do all sorts of irrational things to please an imaginary god. We should make them realize how helpless their god is. The whole world should start laughing just by hear the name Allah. In the next step, we may focus on Muhammad. Ridiculing Islam and its God and Prophet is extremely critical in creating harmonious society where Muslims are going to a significant community. This will definitely hurt the sentiments of the Muslims. But the collective good of both the Muslims and non-Muslims lies in the limited hurts to the Muslims. This will ensure that the world becomes a safer place to live in peace, freedom and liberty.
