Islamic 'Adult Breastfeeding' Fatwas Return
Back in May 2007, Dr. Izzat Atiya, head of Al Azhar University's Department of Hadith, issued a fatwa, or Islamic legal decree, saying that female workers should "breastfeed" their male co-workers in order to work in each other's company. According to the BBC:
He said that if a woman fed a male colleague "directly from her breast" at least five times they would establish a family bond and thus be allowed to be alone together at work. "Breast feeding an adult puts an end to the problem of the private meeting, and does not ban marriage," he ruled. "A woman at work can take off the veil or reveal her hair in front of someone whom she breastfed."

Atiya based his fatwa on a hadith -- a documented saying or doing of Islam's prophet Muhammad and subsequently one of Sharia law's sources of jurisprudence. Many Egyptians naturally protested this decree--hadith or no hadith--though no one could really demonstrate how it was un-Islamic; for the fatwa conformed to the strictures of Islamic jurisprudence. Still, due to the protests--not many Egyptian women were eager to "breastfeed" their male coworkers--the fatwa receded, and that was that.
However, because it was never truly rebutted, it kept making comebacks.
For instance, three years later in 2010, a high-ranking Saudi, Sheikh Abdul Mohsin al-Abaican issued a fatwa confirming that "women could give their milk to men to establish a degree of maternal relations and get around a strict religious ban on mixing between unrelated men and women." But unlike Atiya's fatwa, "the man should take the milk, but not directly from the breast of the woman. He should drink it [from a cup] and then [he] becomes a relative of the family, a fact that allows him to come in contact with the women without breaking Islam's rules about mixing."
Now, a report titled "Kuwaiti Activists: Husband Breastfeeding from Wife not Prohibited," published earlier this month by Arabic RT (see also Garaa News) opens by announcing that "The adult breastfeeding fatwa has returned once again to the spotlight, after Kuwaiti Islamic activists supported the adult breastfeeding fatwa issued by the Egyptian Salafi, Sheikh Jamal al-Murakbi [different from Al Azhar's Sheikh Atiya]. This time around, the Kuwaitis examined the adult breastfeeding fatwa in the context of relations between a man and his wife."
While the Kuwaiti sheikhs all essentially agree that the activity is not strictly forbidden according to Sharia--only "disliked" (literallymakruh)--they are divided over the particulars.
- Sheikh Nazim Misbahi, head of the Fatwa Committee of the Islamic Heritage Revival Society in Kuwait, supports the decree, agreeing that "it is not forbidden [haram] for a man to breastfeed from his wife."
- Sheikh Bassam al-Shatti, a Sharia professor, specifies: "If the husband deliberately sucks to obtain milk from the breast of his wife, this is forbidden; however, if it happens unintentionally during foreplay with his wife, then there is no problem--though it is disliked according to the four schools" of Sharia.
- Sheikh Sa'd al-Anzi stressed that "if the man, while being intimate with his wife, sucks her nipples, it is nothing, considered foreplay; but if the milk reaches his mouth, he should spit out--even if goes down in his stomach," i.e., vomit.
Consider for a moment the significance of these Islamic edicts: whether women "breastfeeding" coworkers (Egyptian fatwa, 2007), whether men drinking female breast-milk in a cup (Saudi fatwa, 2010), or whether Kuwaiti minutiae concerning bedroom foreplay--such fatwas are reminders of the inescapable strictures of Sharia law: while these sheikhs offers various circumstances and interpretations concerning "adult breastfeeding," they are all confined to the words of the prophet of Islam.
This is precisely why, despite all the claims that Islam is perpetually being "misunderstood"--by terrorists, by "Islamophobes"--understanding what Islam commands and forbids is actually quite a simple matter: along with the Koran, determine what the prophet said in canonical hadiths.
It is, after all, no coincidence that the above mentioned Kuwaitis, like Sheikh Misbahi, were members of the delegation that recently went to ask Saudi Arabia's Grand Mufti about Islam's position on churches in the Arabian Peninsula: the same source that compelled the Grand Mufti to declare that all churches must be destroyed, is the same source that advocates "adult breastfeeding": Muhammad and his teachings. All very straightforward, really.

Well, according to numerous Islamic scholars and the fatwas they issued, it IS allowed. I'm more inclined to believe what they say versus an internet poster that disagrees with everything he doesn't like, which ironically turns out to be anything that makes Islam look bad.

It is not allowed to breastfeed an adult before ritually cleaning her nipples according to islam. There is no ruling that milk of a woman is haram like pork but everything has to be checked for halality. It is such an intelligent discussion! Very intellectual what muslims are tallking about. This is why islam is so useful and necessary for all of us. But why is breasfeeding halal while pork is not as well as cuttlefish or other mollusces, scampis and crabs? Animals are allowed to eat this why not we humans?

As far as I understand, in Islam, only the religious scholars i.e. the ulema have any authority to say on Quran or any ahadith or any ritual conclusively. In various countries, the so- called ulema or the clergy do this also by issuing their fatwa or edicts etc. from time to time. Of course, many of them like the present one by Kuwaiti and Egyptian scholars give the kuffar the comic interlude they look for once in a way. My question is, why the apologists like Malem, rzq, commonsense et al cry hoarse about it? Or in other words, what locus standi these apologists have to speak on behalf of Islam? Certainly it is the task of the Grand Mufti, muftis, ayatollahs, imams etc.etc. Let them entertain us with their wisecracks as in the past!

Those who have read the biography of Mo (piss be upon him eternally) very well know what kind of a person he was. When he started preaching in Mecca, his profile was very low and his theory was, to you your religion and to me my religion, meaning there need not be any compulsion in religion. He then had a few unemployed youngsters as his followers. Later on, when his stature progressed his outlook also changed. When he built up an army of mercenaries and started winning battles his opinion changed. See the irony! There are two punishments for the same offense! So, the kuffar are destined to suffer punishment not only in this world, but in their afterlife too. That is the kind of logic he displayed. On his death bed he expressed his death wish, an Arabia bereft of jews and christians. After his death, his followers just realised it. Now we can see what kind of a person Mo was. Though he started his life as a promising nice boy, towards the end of his life, he became one mass murderer, thug, charlatan, pedophile and a ruthless tyrant all rolled into one. I will say he is the greatest opportunist the world has ever seen! According to his circumstances he changed his color and opinion and took maximum benefit out of it! After Mo, I think our friend Malem fits the bill to be aptly called an opportunist par excellence like his mentor. About two years ago when he made his appearance in this site for the first time, he was eulogising the muslim scholars i.e. all imams and the like for their years of studies and research in Islam and Quran and was upholding their view that the alleged violence inciting suras in Quran have no relevance to today's world and it was applicable for the peculiar circumstances of those periods when it was written. So if I understand you Worldpeace, the term "mother" in islam as not the same meaning for us over here... A mother here is a woman giving birth to a child and raising him/her or adopting one and raising him/her, but for Islam a mother would be simply a woman being able to breastfeed whoever suckle it up... She then become her mother... Which, brings us back to the "wedding laws", mother is now a woman who can breastfeed so whoever breastfeeded you, she's now your mother, so you can't marry...

Without the hadith this portion of the verse is senseless: "the Sign of the Night have We obscured, while the Sign of the Day... " how did the Sign of the Night get "obscured" and what does it TALK about? For a "Kooran" only person very hard to explain. Of course according to the hadith, the Sign of the Night is supposedly the Moon, as it was created it was a "Sun" but since two Suns would make the Earth flooded all the time in "light" (and no darkness) stoned-gawd allah sent one Angel to the Moon to draw his Wing 3 times over it, plotting it out. The dark spots on it are supposedly signs of this "plotting". Hilarious! A Angel so big that his Wing would be almost as big as the Moon! At the Muslims here do yourself a favor and ask yourself this question: if a day is 1.000 years, and at another time your supposedly inerrant word of the stoned-gawd allah says it is a 50.000 years.... Besides your lice-ridden profeet claimed that the "day of doom" was only half a day away (at this time meaning of course one day being 1.000 years) so the "judgment day would have happen about 1160 (give or take a few decades since it is not so irrelevant) why did the "DAY OF DOOM" not happen some centuries ago?
BTW there seems some Muslims having no Problem lying to their fellow Muslims. I saw some "reports" that in AUSTRIA in the LAST TWO years 500.000 people converted to Islam. Well it did NOT happen, someone got the thing wrong. Since it is true that there are some estimates of Muslim the number is rather between 400.000 & 500.000 and not converts of the last TWO years BUT the growth since well before 2002. So what we have is Muslims having children and therein lies the "growth" BUT not in conversion in HUGE numbers.

" how did the Sign of the Night get "obscured" and what does it TALK about? For a "Kooran" only person very hard to explain. Of course according to the hadith, the Sign of the Night is supposedly the Moon, as it was created it was a "Sun" but since two Suns would make the Earth flooded all the time in "light" (and no darkness) stoned-gawd allah sent one Angel to the Moon to draw his Wing 3 times over it, plotting it out. The dark spots on it are supposedly signs of this "plotting". Hilarious! A Angel so big that his Wing would be almost as big as the Moon! At the Muslims here do yourself a favor and ask yourself this question: if a day is 1.000 years, and at another time your supposedly inerrant word of the stoned-gawd allah says it is a 50.000 years.... Besides your lice-ridden profeet claimed that the "day of doom" was only half a day away (at this time meaning of course one day being 1.000 years) so the "judgment day would have happen about 1160 (give or take a few decades since it is not so irrelevant) why did the "DAY OF DOOM" not happen some centuries ago?
BTW there seems some Muslims having no Problem lying to their fellow Muslims. I saw some "reports" that in AUSTRIA in the LAST TWO years 500.000 people converted to Islam. Well it did NOT happen, someone got the thing wrong. Since it is true that there are some estimates of Muslim the number is rather between 400.000 & 500.000 and not converts of the last TWO years BUT the growth since well before 2002. So what we have is Muslims having children and therein lies the "growth" BUT not in conversion in HUGE numbers.
I AM living in Vienna/Austria so I know it DOES NOT happen like Muslims are being told...

That's what you get when believing in fairytales. Throw your conscience out of the window and repeat: We heard and believed. Wow, it must be the evidence of the allmighty if some people are convinced this fast. I heard of a flying carpet who actually could talk. I heard it so i believe it. How do i know it's true....because some book tells me so, along with a lot of silly, illogocal stories aka fairytales.

Allow me to shed some light on the ever important [ more then the live of a any Muslim girl] little bit of skin .
Muslim girls are taught from very young age to guard their hymen from being taken, they rather die and their family rather to have their daughters die then to lose it before the wedding.
After each Islamic wedding women from the groom side, sit around outside the door of the bride to wait to see the groom to produce the smudge of blood on sheets to prove to his family, his bride is pure so they can go home and relax.
the bride family wait also for the good news to save face and honer …Muslim bride usually are so nerves for the passing of this test … the wedding night becomes a nightmare and the most embarrassing thing they ever could do … it is humiliating … it meant to say to the brides '' we do not trust you when you say you are pure, we want to see the proofs ''.. so ridicules
Every once a while people hear of a groom who divorces his wife few days after the wedding … the family of the bride demand an announcement that the reason for the divorce was not a lost hymen but some other reason, otherwise the bride have to fear for her life from anger for letting go of her Muslim hymen .
Islamic absurdities …. What else can it be ?
