As the Arab World falls to the Muslim Brotherhood, the new phase of jihad may look soft, but is just as evil.

The Obama administration and other Western politicians welcomed the results of the recent elections in Tunisia and Egypt and expressed their happiness to cooperate with the Islamists. They used the elections gains made by the various Islamic groups as an excuse for their decision. Warm relations and cooperation between America and the Islamists are far from new; such has been the traditional state of affairs for decades. This piece of information may come as a surprise to many readers, but it is the truth and there is no secret about it.

A few decades ago, nobody would have predicted the recent successes made by the Muslim Brothers and their allied Islamic groups. My generation was brought up to look at the Muslim brothers with suspicion and to think of them as backward people who can only be nice to each other. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, the Arabs were generally liberal especially in counties like Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Jordan. Motivated by a sense of national pride after their recent independence, the Arabs were progressively forward and aspired to a bright future to catch up with the developed world after centuries of hibernation under the ottoman rule. In such an ambitious environment, the Muslim Brotherhood was considered as an unwanted backward force.

Since the 1940s, the image of the Muslim Brotherhood has been tarnished with a history of violence, intimidation and political assassinations. In 1954, they attempted to assassinate Nasser, the young charismatic Egyptian leader, which prompted him to turn against them and ban their movement. Disgraced and stigmatized, the group had to go through some difficult years as they disappeared from the political arena during Nasser’s life. However, they managed to survive, thanks to their good friends and allies. America, Britain and Saudi Arabia provided support and refuge to the Brothers to help them to stop the rising nationalist drive in the Arab world. Top leaders of the Muslim Brothers, like Saed Ramadan, the grand father of Tareq Ramadan, were given refuge in Switzerland. With such a tarnished image, the Muslim Brothers failed to gather any public support compared to other political parties, like the Baath party, which dominated Iraq and Syria.

After Nasser’s death, the new president, Sadat, adopted a pro-American policy. Allured by a need to counterbalance the influence of his socialist opponents, Sadat lifted the ban on the Muslim Brothers and encouraged their activities. He later paid the price of his blunder with his life but his fatal mistake was the origin of the evil we see today.

We are now reaping the results of years of Islamic indoctrination and radicalization, which seems to have paid off. Although the Muslim Brothers were not the driving force behind the ‘Arab spring’ but they are the main beneficiaries as they are set to take control of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya.

They also made significant gains in other Arab countries like Yemen, Morocco and Jordan; future governments in those countries are likely to be formed by members of the group. With the uncertainties surrounding the situation in Syria, the future of the Arab World seems very bleak indeed.

With the Muslim Brothers in charge in the Arab world, a new phase of jihad may be looming.

When the Brothers are in office

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 on an ambitious dream of ruling the world, but so far they never managed to rule a single Arab country. The group spent its time in opposition or, in some countries, as a banned political group. Thanks to the Arab spring, they are now closer than ever to control not one country but the entire Arab World.

It is interesting to note that the Muslim Brothers never changed their aim or slogan. Their aim is the establishment of an Islamic superstate, or Khilafa, while their slogan defines their strategy “the Quran is our guide, jihad is our way”. It is important to keep in mind that it is the establishment of Khilafa, which is the goal while terrorism (jihad) is only a means to achieve that goal. Once established, the Islamic Khilafa will continue its own jihad until the ultimate goal which is the complete mastership of the world.

I have no doubt that the Muslim Brothers were always sure of their eventual success because both Allah and Muhammad promised them victory. But I do have doubt that any of the Muslim Brothers, including their leaders, thought they could achieve their aims in a century or two. By establishing the Brotherhood group, the Muslim founders were simply making a start and doing the duty that every good Muslim should aspire to do.

Once in charge of the governments, the Muslim Brothers will have more tools at their disposal to push their agenda. It is possible that they may reduce their reliance on terrorism as it may become embarrassing to them or even counter productive. Although a good news in the short term, it is bad news on the long term as such strategy may speed up the establishment of Khilafa.

From Military Jihad to Soft Jihad

In theory, the war on terrorism should be one of the easiest wars to win because it is a war between the most feeble and most powerful. Throughout history terrorism never worked because of the rational fear of reprisal; the other side would hit back in kind or even harder. That is a predictable behavior when humans follow their instincts and common sense. But that is a wrong way according to modern westerners, who prefer to be guided by the philosophy of political correctness. Accordingly, they have eliminated all options of effective response against terrorism and replaced it with a complicated system that is designed not to work, just in case it offends the enemy or breaches their human rights.

The so-called war on (Islamic) terrorism, as it was conducted, was destined to fail from the beginning. The dissociation of the word “Islamic” from terrorism highlighted the West’s reluctance to face the enemy and fight a serious war. Otherwise, it is beyond belief that after 11 years and over 18,000 terrorist attacks committed by Muslims in the name of Islam and not condemned by a single demonstration by Muslims, the West still cannot figure out Islam’s association with those acts of terrorism!

As I am writing this article, I am appalled by the latest terrorist attacks in Nigeria that claimed hundreds of casualties. The reporting by the main stream media is outrageous to say the least. They seem to be more concerned in distracting the readers’ attention from figuring out the association between Islam and those killings.

If we in the West can have trouble in identifying hardcore Muslim terrorists, who openly advertise their intention to destroy us, we will certainly have more trouble in the next phase of jihad.

The Muslim brothers are likely to pursue a soft and stealth form of jihad. They are known to practicing a confusing strategy where some of them say something while others do exactly the opposite. For example, after Al Zarkawi’s death, some leaders of the Brotherhood visited his family in Jordan to express their condolences – a move that was cheered by the family and the Islamists everywhere, but criticized by the government. Meanwhile, a spokesman from the organization declared that the move did not represent the Muslim Brotherhood’s policy and was only a personal gesture by the individuals concerned.

The Muslim Brothers may say whatever the West wants to hear, but when it comes to action they will follow their agenda. They will change their color to blend with the environment, until they get stronger and then they will show their true color. They believe that the goal justifies the means. When they were weak in the 1950s and 1960s, their members were largely western-looking guys. Even their famous leader, Sayed Qutub, had no beard and wore western clothes. Their women were not necessarily covered with hijab, including their leader’s daughter. As they got stronger, the same people moved slowly to force hijab and then Burqa.

Let us just hope that our concerns are unfounded and we do not fall easy prey to this soft but evil form of jihad.

Very good article ,
But ….please say it isn't so.
If brother hood is going to take over Syria and establish Shariah as the law of the land like it is doing in Egypt, then I will forget that ever was Syrian, it pains me to say that but there is no help for it .
It is hard enough to withstand the return of the veil as fashion statement for all women and girls back home and it is bad enough to withstand the never ending push to veil my hair everywhere I go, it is suffocating….infuriating.
The disproval looks unveiled women like me, get, is so intense that it is enough to melt the iron wall we build to shield .
It was enough for me to cut my long hair… it was my challenge to say '' no more long hair …get off my back already'' .
I do not regret cutting my hair, as much as, the fact I succumbed to the pressure …
It is a dream to be completely free from Islam.

Why I say and maintain islam and christianity are two sides of the same coin? It is borne out amply by the west's reaction to fanatics like muslim brotherhood taking over their client states like Egypt,Tunisia, Iraq,etc. All the talk of freedom and democracy is a big Bullshit! Do you think there will be any freedom or real democracy under the regimes of islamists? The west is tired after losing out in Iraq, Afghanistan( from where they would like an 'honorable' exit)... They have not actually done very well even otherwise with abuse of POW in Iraq, sexual abuses and tortures in Iraq and Afghanistan, their drone-bombing civilians,etc. They are certainly no better than islamic fanatics. Now they are willing to even talk to Taliban to get an honorable exit out of Afghanistan ,otherwise they know they will be mired in conflict with no way out. What a shame for the socalled superpowers who cannot subdue a few thousand ragtag religious merceneries ! All the talk of freedom and democracy is a sham and hypocrisy!

The muslim alliance has three goals:

1. A new middle eastern caliphate

2. The extermination of the jews in Israel

3. A long term eradication of the West from within and from without

They will do anything to achieve these goals, and the Quran gives them the cart blanche they need, to lie, kill, and whatever crime they need to do.

This is what we are up against, it is us or them! Always remember that!

They have not actually done very well even otherwise with abuse of POW in Iraq, sexual abuses and tortures in Iraq and Afghanistan, their drone-bombing civilians,etc.

Just a reminder that it was the US who was attacked by Islamic forces on 911, murdering over 3000 people...Why they did it can be debated, but that they did it is a fact...Geo Bush made several requests of Mullah Omar to turn over Bin Laden, and he refused...Then Bush demanded it and Omar refused again, then Bush said, turn him over or we invade, Omar still refused and the invasion began...Iraq was invaded because Saddam continued hostilities after he surrendered...

There may be some sexual abuse or POW abuse, but this is the doing of irresponsible and criminal individuals, who have already been identified and punished...It is not official gov policy...War demoralizes people who participate which is why nearly all invading armies rape, rob and pillage...if anything American military is better disciplined so that there is less of that...But it's war so abuses happen...
As far as torture, you need to explain yourself...As far as droning people, I don't approve of it, but the reason civilians get killed is because the terrorists hide behind them...At any rate, killing civilians and non combatants is not US official policy...If it was there would be no one alive in Iraq etc, except the US military...

Well written article. There is a desperate need for spreading the message of humanistic values, secularism, science and skeptical thinking to the common masses of Islamic countries to counter the heavy indoctrination of the Islamists. It is a long battle to be waged and Islamists have been busy for decades whilst the secularists were lazy and aloof from the common people.

As for the Muslim brotherhood pursuing a soft or stealth jihad. This is also known as 'Gradualism.' The Muslim brotherhood is learning very fast how to dissimulate. This kind scheme for gaining power and subverting America and other countries of the West for Islam is a subtle and sly war ploy that goes back in philosophy as far as ancient China. An example of this is in THE BOOK OF WAR by Sun Tzu which teaches "Ta first, then exhibit the coyness of a maiden, until the enemy gives you an opening; afterwards emulate the rapidity of a running hare, and it will be too late for the enemy to oppose you."

Only a non thinking person, "in denial" would fail to see the light at the end of the tunnel with regards to the moslem brotherhood. World domination is their goal, desire and motto. For all the non-moslems, We Are All Doomed, So Screwed in fact that I see no way out of the predicament unless every non-moslem has 15 children and those kids have 15 children and so on and so on.

War is the extreme form of cruelty. Civilized behavior can hardly be expected of a warring force. Who is running those asymmetric battles in Iraq and Afghanistan? The Islamists do not know how to accept defeat gracefully. That's the real problem. If America is thinking of withdrawing from Afghanistan it’s out of scruples of running an asymmetric battle, not on military consideration. We the denizens of internet have the responsibility to create awareness in the civilized world that the Islamists have to accept norms of the civilized world or they should live in the wilderness. The question is who created and roused this monster of international islamic jihadis ? It was the same americans and their CIA with their bag of waging 'dirty scurrilous wars' that organised and trained these monsters for the purpose of evicting the erstwhile soviets from Afghanistan. Their efforts created many warlords , gangsters who are financed by the west/the 'friendly' muslim countries like SaudiArabia and Pakistan who have their own axes to grind, and they are also financed by arms-dealing, drug-smuggling, money-laundering,etc. The axis is still there. I am sure that things would not have been as bad as this if these monsters were not created by the west ,especially the USA. Certainly 9/11 would never have happened nor the attacks in other parts of the world. Terrorism in Kashmir had its ascendency since 1989 only after the west started arming the terrorist mercenaries during the soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Pakistan siphoned much of the funds to direct its terrorist activities in India. The blunders of american's twisted policies have only emboldened these muslim fanatics. These facts are there on record. The muslims know that basically the americans are cowards: send a few bodybags of some american soldiers , the americans will back out and return to their country. The american army is not principled like ,for instance, the British army or the other European armies which atleast would respect humanrights band dignity. They are rambos when they are in a position to slaughter others and cowards when the roles are reversed. The rootcause of the rise in islamic terrorism is the warped policies and actions of the USA. Afterv all the 9/11 ,which you referred was all manned by saudi arabs,egyptians,morrocans with training received in Pakistan. Surprisingly neither Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Egypt is at the receiving ends but it was Iraqis and Afghanis who had nothing to do with 9/11 or 13/7 are bombarded. So much for american policies !

That Muhamad was the first megalomaiac and a psychopath who fabricated a"religion" to subserve his greed ,lechery, pedophilia ,sodomy ,etc. is undisputed. I entirely agree with you on that score. But who enkindled and roused this monster of islamic jihad in the name of driving communism out of Afghanistan by arming hordes of merceneries and muslim fanatics and training them and giving millions of dollars as largesse ? This has emboldened these fanatics to carry out attacks in the west. And also allowed Pakistan to carry out their scurrilous attacks in India. After all Lashkar e Toiba, Jaish e Mohamed, Lashkar e Ujung , and other terror outfits had been financed by Pakistan with american dollars. Moreover all the 9/11 perpetrators were from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morroco ,while Afghanistan is bombed and Iraq is invaded. There was no justification to invade Iraq at all ,while taliban may have shielded al quaida , the common afghan had nothing to do with it. Taliban is a product of the madarasas in Pakistan. Pakistan , Saudi Arabia go scotfree ,while nations who did not create these monsters are at the receiving end. Today the USA is a tired and defeated lot to the glee of the muslim world . USA has made an ass of itself in Vietnam and has not learnt any lessons from it. Today they are desperate to get an "honorable exit" from the mess of their own. There is no doubt that sometimes American foreign policy is being run by punks with an agenda, but that alone does not justify all around demonization... Neither you nor I are invited to high level meetings with the big cigars...so we really don't, know why they do anything they do...I do not consider you an expert on American foreign policy...You know as well as I do that Afghanistan was invaded because Mullah Omar refused to hand over bin Laden, and Iraq was invaded because Saddan refused to surrender after he had already surrendered, that is the way of war...The loser is supposed to act like a loser, if he continues hostilities he will get invaded...Also, we have Obama in charge now, and he does not know how to fix a flat or water a plant...Maybe if you lived in America you would like candidate Ron Paul...Your ideas and his are similar...

You also forgot to give America credit for generosity and humanitarianism in responding to natural calamities...If not for American welfare and food distribution, half the world would collapse...Half the world is collapsing anyway, and America can't feed them all...Maybe the country you live in can chip in a little more...

Your characterization of American soldiers as being demon encrusted fiends is super objectionable to me...Some of those guys are my friends and some of them have died...and none of them are as you described...There may be isolated cases of uncalled for brutality, but they are not the norm...and to try and characterize them all as such, is a lie and an uncalled for insult...And I did not hear you complain about the horrors inflicted on any captured American soldiers by the beloved Taliban or other jihadists...Do you give them a pass while condemning Americans?

Mohammad adapted himself to circumstances as to how peaceful or violent he was and his followers are doing the same.
After July 2005 bombing in London, Muslim Council of Britain after a long deliberation issued a fatwa saying suicide bombing is haram,but there have been many convictions of people plotting that.The lip service is not enough.Muslims still demonstrate with placards saying 'Islam will rule the world'. At the same time Muslims do not demonstate against violent Jihad advocated by their Imams and others.
Will a member of another religion be safe to demonstate proclaiming his religion in a Muslim country? That is the test Western and Indian leaders fail.
Human rights is not only for Muslims.
Small steps by Swiss in stopping minarets, French ban on burkhas and not calling Turkish massacre of Armenians as Holocaust still aren't talking point for general public.
There are 'Afghan Holocaust' (Afghanistan was then a Buddhist/Hindu country) and 'Indian Holocaust' ---both of which were recorded by Muslim scribes.
We forget history at our peril.
Why allow free distribution of Quran and building of Mosques in other countries until Churches, Temples, Synagogues etc. can be built in Muslim countries and their respective religious book freely available? Human rights are not only for Muslims.

Mosque building is how Islam spreads...'If you build it, they will come', and keep coming...One Muslim moves into an area and his mosque is a closet in his house...a few more Muslims move in and the closet gets overcrowded so the house becomes a mosque, that attracts more Muslims and soon the house is too small and there are traffic and parking problems, with no good place to tie up a camel, so they get a building, more Muslims show up so they build a mosque...Usually a huge one because they expect even more Muslims to move into the area...After a while they need a second mosque, then a third...and they just keep coming...it is a mistake to let the mosque out of the closet...There are about three thousand mosques in America, according to a study 80% of them teach hatred toward Jews and kuffar...Eventually the dense minded west will figure this out and put a stop to mosque building...

A report by Human Rights Watch a few days ago is about 'Some 35 Ethiopean Christians face depotation from S Arabia for 'illicit mingling'. Police arrested the group -- including 29 women -- after raiding a prayer meeting in the second city of Jeddah. The women were subjected to strip searches and the men beaten and called 'unbelievers'. In 2006, Saudi government promised to stop interfering with private worship by non-muslims. The group was arrested in a private home as they gathered to pray during the run-up to Chistmas, celebrated by the Ethiopean Orthodox Christians on January 7th.
The ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom bans the practice of any religion except Islam --but in recent years pledged to leave people of other faiths alone if they worshipped in private homes.
Ethiopia was one of the first Christian countries in the world, having officially adopted Christianity as state religion in the 4th century.
So Muslims and politically correct people should answer --
Why can Muslims practice Islam,build mosques, give away free Qurans, try to convert people to Islam without any restriction, when the above Ethiopean Christians have been arrested and mistreated for praying in private? Why do they face deportation?
