Women's Equality: The Global Challenge for Our Time

E-mail Print PDF

Even in our so-called 21st-century civilized world, women's equality remains a mountinous challenge...

There is no challenge or priority greater for our generation larger than the continuing global oppression of women, who represent half of humanity. This challenge for women's equality and women's freedom must be a concerted effort by men and women together for the futures of our daughters, our sisters, our nieces, and the billions of women who are counting on our courage to defend their universal human rights. We see the oppression of women on a daily basis around the world, including the pandemic rape and sexual violence in the Congo, so-called "honor killings," and the religious supremacist and misogynist oppression of women. We must stand united on all fronts challenging the human trafficking, oppression, sexual violence, and femicide against women around the world.

The key in this struggle for women's equality remains consistency.

We cannot decide that women's equality matters in some parts of the world, but not in others. Human equality is a universal human right – it applies everywhere and to everyone. We also cannot decide that we oppose women's equality because we may not like some of the decisions some women may make if they have equality. Human equality is a universal human right – whether we like the decisions some people make as equal human beings is never an argument against equality itself.

Our hope for women's equality lies in building communities that are willing to share our love for our fellow human beings, as well as share a consistent commitment to equality and liberty for women – in America and around the world.

Equality for Women Must Be Constitutionally Guaranteed in America

Yesterday was Women's Equality Day, which commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, the Women's Suffrage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave U.S. women full voting rights in 1920. Nearly 90 years later, it remains a disgrace that women have not yet been given full Constitutional equality, and that must change. In the United States, we must declare unequivocally and without reservation in our Constitution that all men AND women are equal under our national law.

Such fundamental issues of women's equality must be not the choice of "interpretations" by state governments and changing legislatures, but must be an unequivocal, Constitutional right for all American women. Such human equality is fundamental to America's very identity as a nation, and it is a universal human right.

Therefore, it is past time for the United States government to pass and endorse the Equal Rights Amendment (E.R.A.) to guarantee such Constitutional equality for women. Every day, women in our armed forces (over 200,000) and other branches of our government work to defend a Constitution of the United States, where their inherent equality is not guaranteed. The women of America deserve better and it is our responsibility to ensure their full Constitutional equality.

To those of you unfamiliar with the Equal Rights Amendment, I urge you to read what it actually states. It states that: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification."

The Equal Rights Amendment's wording reflects the Constitutional language of the 19th Amendment which states: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Some will continue to make arguments that such U.S. Constitutional equality for women should not be supported through the Equal Rights Amendment because they are concerned about the impacts of such an amendment on American society. We have heard this before. Arguments against a Constitutional amendment on women's rights as a threat to American "civilization" have been made many times – as they were against the 19th Amendment to the Constitution – giving American women the right to vote.

Those who sought to deny women the right to vote claimed that the 19th Amendment would lead to war, would undermine America's national security, would create "mental disorder" in women, would lead to voter fraud by women, and would undoubtedly threaten women's health as they were too "fragile" to vote. Those who sought to deny women the right to vote claimed that the 19th Amendment "would produce a nation of transvestites," and would result in the "resignation of manhood." Despite the claims of those who opposed the 19th Amendment, America commemorates Women's Equality Day on August 26th, remembering those American legislators and states that had the courage of their convictions to act and ensure women the right to vote through the 19th Amendment, which was finally ratified on August 18, 1920.

It is past time to complete the unfinished business on women's Constitutional equality in America. The 19th Amendment was first ratified by Illinois, yet the Equal Rights Amendment has still not been ratified by Illinois and 14 other states today, including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Utah, and Virginia. Women's equality is a universal human right, under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which the United States joined in adopting as part of the United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights specifically recognizes "equal rights of men and women." In recognition of these universal human rights, we urge our fellow Americans to support the Equal Rights Amendment. We ask President Obama to ask his fellow citizens in Illinois and around the country, when will they ratify the Equal Rights Amendment? In the interim, we urge President Obama to show historic initiative by declaring an Executive Order recognizing the equality of women in America.

In our generational defiance of the misogynist hate against women around the world, America cannot afford to allow any exceptions, starting at home. We cannot allow the continuing failure to have Constitutional equality of women in America as a rationalization to justify oppression of women in America or anywhere in the world.

A Global Defiance Against Misogyny: No Exceptions, No Excuses, No Rationalizations

Of all the forms of institutionalized hate that our society faces today, none is more self-destructive to the continuing survival of the fabric of humanity than the hatred of women, or misogyny.

Yet we see increasing misogynist murders, violence, hate, oppression, and intolerance growing around the world.  It is our responsibility to consistently and unceasingly defy such hate and violence against women.  We cannot leave such a world of misogyny as the legacy of our generation to our daughters, sisters, and women of the world.

If we continue to expect the least from others regarding hate and violence against women, that is precisely what we will get. It is time to stop expecting the least from others in America and around the world regarding misogyny, and start demanding the most in terms of consistent equality, freedom, and respect for women.

How do we change public attitudes on misogyny? We start with ourselves, our families, our neighbors, our cities, our nation, and then reach out towards the rest of the world. We start by expecting equality for women in the workplace, in our Constitution, in our government, and in society. We start by rejecting the idea that women are second-class citizens or second-class human beings in America or anywhere in the world. We consciously choose a global defiance against misogynist hate – no exceptions, no excuses, and no rationalizations. We recognize misogynist activities as precisely what they are - hate crimes.

We need to set a new standard of public rejection of misogyny as something that is always unacceptable, just as racism and any other form of institutionalized hate is always unacceptable.  In the United States, our national priorities, funding, and programs must be geared to promote equality for women and to consistently defy misogyny.

In our foreign relations, we must show a zero tolerance for misogyny, especially institutionalized misogyny. Those nations whose leaders and governments tolerate or support hate and violence against women are rogue nations that are not, will not, and must not ever be viewed as "allies" of the United States of America. Terrorism against women is nothing less than a declaration of war against half of humanity itself.

The New York Times recently reported that the "global statistics on the abuse of girls are numbing. It appears that more girls and women are now missing from the planet, precisely because they are female, than men were killed on the battlefield in all the wars of the 20th century. The number of victims of this routine 'gendercide' far exceeds the number of people who were slaughtered in all the genocides of the 20th century."

U.S. taxpayer dollars and U.S. corporate investment must not reward nations with institutionalized hate against women. But it does today and that must change. While some may view such a change as "radical," our generation must develop a culture that holds equality, freedom, and respect towards women as a basic standard of civilized human behavior. We cannot continue to look the other way as women are murdered, mutilated, raped, and oppressed around the world. We must develop a culture where such equality and liberty is a priority in who and what we are, not just as individuals, not just as a nation, but also in the way we relate politically and economically with the rest of the world.

Our tolerance of the oppression of girls and women in Communist China, in Saudi Arabia, and in too many nations around the world is a legacy that we must change. In our international relations, too often we have allowed continued support of those nations that practice institutionalized hate against women, with the rationalization that we have had to make the best of bad choices. But those bad choices set an example of how much misogyny we will tolerate, we will accept, and we will appease. It sends a very clear message that human rights are not our top priority, and may even be our last priority. Human rights are never our last priority; they are always are the first priority for humanity. The dark chapter in our history that has consciously ignored such oppression of the world's women, while doing business and funding some of the world's worst oppressors of women's rights must come to an end, so that we can forward together to bring equality and liberty to women around the world.

Men and women together must recognize that our "standard of living" is only as great as our "standard of human rights." It is our standard of human rights that defines whether we are or are not a civilized people.

We can't buy back the human rights violations of women around the world.  No material creature comforts, momentary pleasure, or economic prosperity will ever justify one moment of inequality, degradation, oppression, or violence against women. We need to come to the societal realization that we can't put a price on hate and violence against women. We need to come to the realization that no productive foreign policy, no productive national security tactic, and no political objectives of free people are ever advanced by ignoring hate and violence against women.

Our Responsibility for Women's Equality and Liberty

Let us not deny who and what we are collectively.  Collectively, we are the ones that create the governments of the world.  Collectively, we are ones that form the corporations of the world.  Collectively, we are the races, religions, conscience, and nations of the world. This is not someone else's responsibility. This is our responsibility for women's equality and liberty. It is our personal responsibility to challenge those who would justify or rationalize hate, violence, and oppression against women.

But if we are not consistent in our defiance against misogyny, then we will simply tell those who hate women that we just don't tolerate hate against women in SOME instances. That is the societal change we must affect in our generation. A zero tolerance policy against misogyny must challenge hate against women consistently and globally.

Without a culture of zero tolerance against misogyny where will our society end up? Reports from around the world give us a preview of the inhumanity that continues to grow on a daily basis against women. Misogynist hate seeks to dehumanize women either through acts of war or acts of oppression.

According to V-Day reports on the Congo war, "[a]n estimated 5 million people have died here since 1996, with over 250,000 victims of rape." U.S. Department of State Secretary Hillary Clinton recently reported from a trip to the Congo: "Women and girls in particular have been victimized on an unimaginable scale, as sexual and gender-based violence has become a tactic of war and has reached epidemic proportions. Some 1,100 rapes are reported each month, with an average of 36 women and girls raped every day."

This misogyny against women in Africa includes the use of rape as acts of war by military and terrorist organizations.  Regarding the ongoing war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the United Nations reports that "the Congolese army, security sector personnel, and several armed groups still use sexual violence as a weapon of war in the DRC. Further, international actors, including UN personnel, have been implicated in perpetrating sexual violence in the DRC." While the United States is providing funding for medical care and support for rape victims in the Congo, it must also set expectations for President Kabila to prosecute Congo military involved in such sexual violence, and UN Secretary Ban to ensure action against any UN personnel involved in such sexual violence.

The violence in the Congo is linked to violence in Sudan (where a human genocide continues to rage) and Uganda on its borders. In addition, these rapes are also performed by the Uganda rebel terrorist organization, the "Lords Resistance Army" (LRA). The LRA terrorist organization claims to seek to create theocratic state based on the Ten Commandments, while murdering and raping other Christians and destroying their churches. In addition to setting expectations for the Congo and UN leaders, we must have a continued commitment against the LRA Ugandan terrorist organization, and Christian organizations must publicly and aggressively reject the actions of the LRA. The continuing conflicts in the Congo, Uganda, and Sudan must be a priority for Africans, Christians, Muslims and human beings around the world.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been described by one Muslim woman as the "world's largest prison for women," but the endless reports of misogynist abuses by government officials and Saudi clerics has not impacted our continuing trade or support for the misogynist government of Saudi Arabia. Some human rights organizations even continue to seek funding from within Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia continues to refuse to end its segregation and oppression of women and it refuses to end child marriages. Women who have managed to escape outside of Saudi Arabia file for asylum from Saudi Arabia's misogynist laws, including their fear of being stoned to death.

The Saudi prison state is hardly unique in the Middle East and Asia in terms of oppression of women. Iran continues to hold women in prison for their religious beliefs, allows raping of women prisoners, and has a long history of oppression and violence against women, including stoning, with women such as Sakine Mohammadi Ashtiani awaiting death by stoning. Across the Middle East, so-called "honor killings" of women are rampant with limited punishment of those who commit such violence, with Syria recently deciding to increase the penalty for murdering of "honor killing" of a woman from one year to merely two years in prison. In Iraq, women are not protected as rape victims, and the "honor killing" of an Iraqi woman is punishable by three to six months in prison, resulting in the creation of an "underground railroad" for Iraqi women to try to escape. In Afghanistan, the government recently adopted a law permitting starvation of a Shiite Muslim woman if she doesn't provide sex to her husband, while one cleric in Afghanistan defends marital rape as a "democratic right." We are told by the news media that women have been prevented from voting due to the absence of segregated voting booths, rationalized by one newspaper as merely "strict cultural norms." Women continue to live in terror in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where women are routinely murdered, mutilated, sprayed with acid, and raped based on the rationalization that they deserved to die for committing some "offense" against Islam.

Generations of women have gotten so used to being beaten, abused and killed that some don't even know there is anything wrong with it. The cancer of this misogynist hate has spread from Africa's Somalia (where a 13-year-old girl was stoned to death for the "crime" of being raped, while 1,000 watched) to Europe's Turkey (where 25 percent of the population approves of "honor killings"). Furthermore, such "honor killings" and violence against women has spread throughout all of Europe, the United Kingdom, and into the United States of America (Indianapolis, Atlanta, Dallas, Cleveland, Buffalo). Nor is this violence restricted only to Muslim women, as Christian women in the Middle East and Asia are frequent targets of such hate. Egyptian Christian women are kidnapped, raped, and forced to convert to Islam. Pakistani Christian women are tortured, stripped, raped, and burned alive by Muslims in Pakistan. This global violence against women must be a priority for Muslims, Christians, and human beings around the world.

The consistent denial by world governments on such misogynist threats against women can be seen this week in Russia, where on Monday, August 24, 2009, Reuters reported on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's visit to support Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov.  Kadyrov has been denounced by human rights organizations for Chechnya's history of killings and kidnapping of human rights activists. Responsible for Equality And Liberty has criticized Kadyrov since our March 2009 protest at the U.S. Capitol on International Women's Day for his support for "honor killings" of women in Chechnya. On February 28, 2009, AP reported that "the bullnecked president of Chechnya emerged from afternoon prayers at the mosque and with chilling composure explained why seven young women who had been shot in the head deserved to die. Ramzan Kadyrov said the women, whose bodies were found dumped by the roadside, had 'loose morals' and were rightfully shot by male relatives in honor killings." On April 7, 2009, Interfax reported that Kadyrov justified murdering women who were "promiscuous." Yet Russian Prime Minister Putin openly and publicly supports Ramzan Kadyrov, with no visible outcry from international women's groups, no denunciations by the U.S. government, and no protests (yet) at the Russian Embassy. Some view supporting Kadyrov as the best of bad choices. But if we believe in women's equality and liberty as a priority, we must always and consistently object to institutionalized and government support of misogyny. Turning a blind eye to hate and violence against women will never ensure security for Russia or any nation.

The magnitude of this problem cannot be effectively communicated in this brief article. At Responsible for Equality And Liberty's website on such violence, I was recently asked for the web link on the initial report on Buffalo's Aasiya Zubair Hassan in mid-February and I discovered that we have 12 pages of headlines on such attacks in the past six months alone. These are more than merely tragic statistics of a continuing horror story of institutionalized misogynist violence against women. Each attack was against a unique and individual girl or woman who was someone's mother, daughter, sister, and they were loved, special human beings. But this consistent, global war against women has yet to be prioritized by the national news media. Such hate crimes against women are not yet a consistent priority of much of the mainstream news media. This is precisely what we must change in being responsible for women's equality and liberty.

Empowering Each Other to Stand United for Women's Equality and Liberty

The problem we face in challenging misogynist hate demands accountability from the governments we elect, and the nations, races, and religious organizations we belong to. We can bring change to our culture in support of women's equality and liberty, but we must expect a "standard of human rights" that respects women's equality, liberty, and dignity from all of the organizations that we are part of as individuals.

Women deserve better than this. We must resolve to make such hate and violence against women a consistent priority for human rights groups, for women's groups, and for each other as individuals.

We must remember that our struggle against misogynist hate and violence is based on our love for one another as fellow human beings, and not become desensitized and demoralized to believe that misogynist terrorism is nothing but statistics that we feel hopeless to change. We must remember who and what we are working for – equality and liberty of women and each other as individual human beings. But most of all we must work to build communities of love, building relationships with others to share our commitment for equality and liberty for women and each other. People empower us – people inspire us – and people move us to action. This is why we must work first in building communities of those who share our love for humanity to organize our efforts and keep working towards defending the human rights of women and all people.

Together, we can be Responsible for Equality And Liberty.

Talking About Equality
written by Truth Detector , August 27, 2009
There is no equality simply because some religions like Islam doesn't teach equality. Some ideologies also have taught inequality, for example, atheistic Communism and atheistic Nazism.

Lately I have been challenging Islam. I have studied Satan's Bible, the Muslims call it the Qur'an, and I have never any lessons in ethics in this Muslim Bible. Nowhere have I found a lesson on Morality, Justice, or Love of Neighbor. Precisely for that reason, I call the Qur'an Satan's Bible.

I'm asking any Muslim to help me out. If any Muslim can cite any lesson on Morality, Justice, or Love of Neighbor in their "holy" book, I will come to their defense.

Speaking of religion, if a religion is a true religion, how can it create strife of any kind? Prove to me how the Ten Commandments is bad for society. Prove for example how "Thou shalt not kill" is harmful. Prove how "Thou shalt not commit adultery," "Thou shalt not steal," "Thou shalt not bear false witness against your neighbor," "Thou shalt honor your father and mother," "Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife or goods," can lead to war. NOW, I DARE YOU TO PROVE HOW A TRUE RELIGION CAN LEAD TO WAR. I DARE YOU TO PROVE IT!!!

If atheism is so good, why did atheistic Communism and atheistic Nazism lead to the destruction of 120,000,000 human lives? What are you going to say: "all those atheists were Catholic." Har, har, har.

We don`t have to prove anything!

Simply because your western societies, your nirvana,is everything you claim Islam represents.

By your logic that would make USA an Islamic state, and you a devout muslim.

Walk down any us/euro street, you will be over whelmed by hopelessness, homelessness, drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution, criminality etc etc.

To dare call yourselves christians,is like describing wolves as vegertarians.
Islam is the one of many evils
written by Irandhost , August 27, 2009
Saladin type persons instead of arguing to the point, try to deviate to other. Is suppose one is arguing why Hitler was bad, like a typical neo-nazi they will point out Lenin as bad and thus as Lenin was bad, thus hitler was right.
Mullahs generally to hide the failures of islam will point to some failures in america and western societies.
But the muslims cant understand that islam is a failed barbaric and the most in-human system. Yes its true western society is not 100 % perfect, but they are good and people have freedom for improvement. If a person does a theft , he is fined and is convinced that it is bad and that person is given chance to lead a decent and fruitful life. What muslims do is cut the hand, that guy is made permanent handicap.
Women have no right, many a case the husbands are so abusive that women have to do suicide. In some cases the husbands has skin diseases and they also transfer the same to wives.
My friend work in NGO for women welfare in africa and there are many cases where muslim men aged around 40 beats wives 13 years or so for not doing good sex or not cooking food to taste. Women have no law to protect as girls are sex slaves to men.
Say Again?

Saladin, I simply don't understand your silly ramblings. What are you talking about? Are you saying I'm a hopeless case? Are you saying that I'm homeless? Are you saying I'm a drug addict? Are you saying I'm an alcoholic, prostitute, criminal? Saladin, I'm none of these things. Where are you from? Wherever you are from, you indicate that you live in a hapless place. If you do, then I feel sorry for you. See if you can pull yourself away from that state. Believe me, there are better pastures, and you don't have to be any of the sad sacks that you mentioned above.

If you continue to ramble with silly statements that don't make sense at all, let me inform you that I will not waste my time with you. But I'll pray for you. May God bless you.

Incredible, how can I be a Muslim? I don't practice any parts of Satan's Bible, i.e., the Qur'an. Let me quote a few suras from Satan's Bible:

"Make war on the infidels around you,"(Sura 9 Verse 123 and Sura 66 Verse 9).

"Be ruthless to the infidels,"(Sura 48 Verse 29).

"Fight those who believe not Allah nor the Last Day,"(Sura 9 Verse 29).

"If someone stops believing in Allah, kill him," (al-Bukhari 9:84:57). Saladin, believe me; I will not kill anyone if he stops believing in Allah, who is Satan.

"Never be a helper to the disbeliever," (Sura 28 Verse 26). I know you wouldn't help me because I'm an "infidel," but I would help you because I'm a Christian. That's one more thing that makes Christians different than Muslims.

"Kill the disbelievers wherever you find them," (Sura 2 Verse 191). Saladin, do you see why I refer to the Qur'an as Satan's Bible?

"The unbelievers are the worst of beasts in the eyes of Allah," (Sura 8 Verse 55). Isn't that nice, Saladin?

"Jews are apes and swine," (Sura 2 Verse 65).

Saladin, I can now see why you don't want to prove anything. There are 109 suras in Satan's Bible that are impure and violent, very cruel.

Like the rest of the hotpotch of appostates, endtime freaks and zionist, who ferquent this unholy place, the devilish thread that binds these evil spores together is a fear, angst, consternation about the power of Islam and it`s message.

don`t pray for me,pray for your own repentence and redemption from sin and idolatry, for the end of your unholy reign upon this earth is nigh...repent unto your lord Allah (awt).
You fear your allah, we piss on him and muhammed
written by Steve , August 27, 2009
Saladin and other foolish muslims. You fear koran and the satanic verses written in koran, we like to piss on koran.
Why you guys cant understand , that you are a burden on this planet. You did negative contribution to society.
Its our pity that we gave you immigration in our free lands , where you started producing babies like pigs and dream to outbreeding us.
Muhammed was a thug , he copied from bible, torah and other common sense things from arabia , persia and started preaching and belittling the secular arabs. He got hardly 50 converts after working for 10 years. Mostly all were low IQ people and intelligent poets etc were mocking him and instead of debating he send assasins to kill them. Even he killed women who were nursing there children.
Saladin shame on you and your fellow muslims. You believe in such a thug who did oral sex with 6 year aisha and did penetration at age 9. Did slavery. Cheated on wives.
Why Women Are Unequal In Islam
written by Truth Detector , August 27, 2009
Women are unequal in Islam because women are the weaker sex, and perverted, Neanderthal Islamist males take advantage of this weakness. Allah, actually, Satan, who has convinced Muslim perverts that they are superior, allows the Muslim males to rape women with impunity, to beat women with impunity, and to keep women in bondage.

In backward Muslim Third World Countries, old depraved Muslim male sex perverts are allowed to legally kidnap little girls as young as seven years old.

These old depraved Muslim male sex perverts are allowed to force the little girls to "marry" them with impunity.

The same old depraved Muslim male sex perverts are allowed by "the religion of peace" to rape these little girls with impunity. All these criminal acts are committed because Muslim males are convinced that their violent, cruel religion is "the true religion."

On another site, "The Religion of Peace," there is a story that a little girls, only ten years old, had to go back to her depraved Muslim "husband" who is 80 years old. This depraved 80 year old husband can get away with this depressing criminal act because "it is the custom of Islam and a right." Also because paedophile, Diaper Chaser, child molester, murderer, cruel wife beater, violent criminal, slave owner, liar, Muhammad told his followers that Allah, actually Satan, revealed to him that Muslim males had this right. Did anyone ever ask the helpless little girls if they agreed with this "Islamic custom"?

P.S. What are you deluded Muslims going to do when your stupid Mahdi doesn't appear in 2012? "Infidels," brace yourselves because there will be many conversions from Islam after 2012. Even some of the hardheaded Muslims will convert.

written by to truth detection , August 27, 2009
Muslims when confronted with the truth they try to divert the debate. This is what the Saladin did.Why did he not explain the meaning of the Quranic verses which truth detection have given in his comments? At least Saladin can say that truth detection has given references out of context. When muslims have no answer of the quistion they always brage this is out of context.truth detection well done.Islam is pure evil. The more muslim they are the more zumbies they became.this is unfortunate for the whole Umah.
Who wants to live in Jannah
written by JohanM , August 27, 2009
As per Islam, Jannah is the sole properietary of Muslims. Non Muslims are not welcome at all... They all will go to the Jahannum (hell).

But after looking at the conduct of the Muslims right from the first muslim in line Pophet Muhammed one can understand that what will be the overall condition of the Jannah. How "peacefully" they will be enjoying their Houris. Who in his right senses would like to go to the Jannah. I can bet Jahannam (hell) will be a much better place then the Jannah if all the muslim go to the Jannah.

Wives are Purchased
written by Bonnie , August 27, 2009
If the is ever to be any equal treatment for women in Islam, it should start with changing the 'wedding' ceremony.
Muslims do not marry. Not like in the west, where vows of love and commitment are exchanged.
How muslims do this is as follows:
Father and possible male prospect get together for arrangement of transaction. Father can choose someone he owes gambling debt to or someone who he would want 'favor' from.
If father and prospect come to a deal, they draw up a contract for this union.
The female has no say in anything. She is to do as she is told.
The female is then given a Gift. Usually money. The Quran states; the woman MUST accept this gift.
The reason for this insistance on taking the money, is because a 'marriage' contract is for the purchase of her genitalia, to be used at HIS sole discretion, when and where HE chooses.
As this is the sole purpose of the contract, her value is pretty much between her legs.
And that needs to be changed!

You don't know what you're talking about. You have never walked down my street. If you did you would see a few people walking, one or two running, a few riding bicycles, and a few driving cars.

I don't call myself a Christian because I'm not.

I have no idea what it's like in Europe. I haven't been there since 1984.

No Islam No terrorism
written by Sultan , August 27, 2009
Eradicate islam. Terrorism, women subjugation will end.Muslims dont do family planning as muslims think as allah has given birth to a baby so allah will fed some how. The girls are normally bought by old rich man while madrassa take boys to groom them as mujahids.
Europe needs Winstun churchill like leader who will tell about Islam for what it is and remove muslims from europe. With Oil level decreasing and surging muslim populations the middle kingdom of earth is ripe for muslim fanaticism. Saudi etc have harvested muslims in mosques and they should get the taste of koranic radicalism. Even the initial caliphs were killed in the game.
Muslims should not be allowed to spill over to kaffir places. Just see the fun they will be killing each other, in the game of 'Truer Islam' or 'Puranitical Islam' calling each other heretic.
Is there any other secret book in Islam
written by Innocent Kaffir , August 27, 2009
9 11 was a wake up call . 3000 peacful innocents were killed but waked up atleast 300 - 700 million kaffirs to what is Islam. Thanks to these sites, I am avoiding muslim restaurants, areas , countries. I went through few of the books by robert spencer etc.
Koran and hadith really exposes what a criminal madness full ideology is Islam. Athough west is a multicultural place we should be cautious what kind of people we allowed in.
Is there any other secret books which muslim follow. I mean higher order mullahs or ayatollahs which has description of how to destroy innocent kaffirs. May be these secrets cant be known to normal, but ayatollahs know this and transfer it to only a select group of clergy. We know that uthman revised quran, so is there any other more dangerous koran or book still exist and they work on plan. The mullahs have huge power on muslims and with call to jihad they can raise a army of min 300 -400 million mad muslims ready to kill or die for the allah.
I hope our intelligence agency should go to the depth of Islam and penetrate using all possible technology to the higest level of clergy of Islam and make us known.
Time is running out, we cant let civilization survival on only these few websites or just killing some terrorists like osama.

TO SALADDIN - As is the case with every Moslem - you are a zombie- do not use logic, reasoning, rational thinking, critical analysis - you are beyond any human civility. You cant say anything good about ISLAM or quote or give reference from ISLAMISM . IN Moslem countries it is all hell,in equality. Moslem women are captives kept in HAREMS . In the history of ISLAM , women in thousands and thousands are kept in HAREMS watched by male EUNUCHS - you have full documentation of this. Even in 21 century a woman in ISLAM is a sex robot.Moslem countries are closed societies, totalitarian- In Moslem countries they dont allow even census . You know fully well that Moslem countries allow open statistics ,freedom, democracy is allowed - you will find that incest, sodomy, homosexuality will top in any moslem country.Guaranteed. Who wants to live in ISLAMIC hell hole ? Even you don't - this is true. I guarantee you. Rest of the nonmoslem countries are really a different world- more open, more generous, more magnanimous, eager to advance civilizationally, freedomwise, democracy, liberty, equality
,equal justice, pleuralism. But Moslem s in ISLAMIC countries are wallowing in demonism, fascism, totalitarian, inequality, slavery, darkness, cruelty, jealousy, hatred, rape and killings. I challenge you to show any ISLAMIC country worth living.

They don't seem to like it.

Action needed
written by Kaffir , August 28, 2009
We are able to control muslims as we kaffirs are intelligent and have science as our tool. We have somehow dwarfed the aggressiveness of Islam. The muslims in irag , saudi etc are not dangerous to us as muslims living in our cities in europe etc.
Muslims are although cruel, mad and intolerant but are less intelligent as they waste there time and enrgy and believing shit of quran and hadith. They can never win a war against infidels. The main problem is muslims breeding within our cities. Quickly they should all be deported back to muslim majority lands and if they threaten then bomb them as done in iraq and afghanistan. No need to send soldiers , just remove muslims peacefully from our western lands and bulldoze all mosques.
A remarkable fact too many ignore
written by JD , August 29, 2009
As a person who cannot say SHE, yes SHE, is a Christian I do find I must give Christians credit for two remarkable events in this world. First, Christians quoting their scriptures were the first culture in the world to abolish slavery. Second, citing fact that slavery was abolished Christians, who dominated America at the time, recognized the theoretical equality of women in the political/governmental realm.

Since then Americans, particularly very competitively minded Americans, have recognized that if a woman can do a given job best of all the job applicants the woman should be hired. Otherwise a cannier competitor will hire her and come out ahead in the marketplace.

None of this came about at the hands of atheists or people of any other faith. So to be intellectually honest I must recognize both the fact that the American "feminist" movement is a Marxist/Communist sham and that it was Christians who opened the doors for my long successful career in electronics.

And I fully recognize that Muslims would have had me worse than barefoot and pregnant slaving in a mud hut home to serve my male masters. May they roast in the pits of Hell, each and every one of them.

There is actually a female General here in Afghanistan- General Khatool Mohammadzai. She works in the Ministry of Defence in Kabul. She also has to have 3 bodyguards with her at all times because she has been threatened with death so many times.
I have worked with her for the past 2 years, teaching her about military doctrine, taking her to the pistol range at KMTC, and sitting in her office drinking chai. She is a wonderful woman that speaks very little english, but is a wonderful host.
she also is a huge proponent to changing the status of women in Afghanistan.
she told me once that she would love to live in America (she has relatives that moved there) but refuses to leave her country until it changes. I told her it would be a long, long time until this country alters its attitude towards women, and she was very sad.
please pray for her- that she is safe, and that her work will not be in vain. in Afghanistan women are garbage.

In this belated age, when Islam is being attacked from all angles and fronts, one particularly common attack and criticism against Islam is the status of women. The enemies of Islam have a few old worn-out propaganda tactics against Islam over the centuries; which they revamp and facelift every now and again. Amongst them the issue of the status of women in Islam. They claim that Islam has given no rights to women; that women are oppressed, that women are considered inferior to men.

Islam has given the highest position to womankind on earth, while Europe and the West were wallowing in the dregs of degradation and savagery. Islam had accorded women a position of honour, respect, safety and love, that has not yet been matched to this day, let alone being superceded and excelled.

Prostitution, Escort Agencies, Massage Parlours, Lesbianism, Illegal Mistresses, Nudity and Shamelessness. These are only some of the 'rights' that the Western World has given to women. It has made women the cheapest commodity on earth - from a car to a packet of sweets, everything sell with the picture of a nude or semi-nude woman. The body of this cheap woman is the property of one and all. Every lusty and lecherous man is at full liberty to cast his filthy and dirty gazes upon her anatomy and commit everything evil and profanity in his mind and heart. How cheap and despised is this woman on show. How cheap is this woman the West has created.

On the contrary, the woman in Islam is a "precious jewel" not to be viewed by all and sundry. She is far too precious then to be viewed and exhibited to any lecherous man. Her beauty and charms are reserved for the only person that truly appreciates and loves her - her husband. Thus, she is highly protected and covered at all times, unlike the cheap, shameless woman of the West, who is the playmate of thousands but loved by none for what she really is.

Unfortunately, the West did not give Islam a fair chance. Every opportunity is utilised to derogate and blaspheme the true Islamic point of view. Due to blindly and gullibly swallowing this filth that is fed to them day and night by the Western media, even Muslims have become adversely affected by this falsehood and have begun to doubt the true Islam standpoint.

It is a known fact that whenever and wherever woman was lured to neglect her domestic life by the glitter and glamour of the outside world and indulged in economic and other pursuits, her home was ruined. Her own as well as the lives of her children were wrecked and they lost their peace of mind. In most cases, the peace at home was torn to shreds and the children became backward and dilinquents.

In countries that have given women the so-called rights of freedom and equality and left them free to do as they wish are now shedding tears of remorse over the pathetic plight of their degeneration and disintergrating societies. Their women being economically and socially independent, are no longer faithful and dedicated daughters, wives, sisters and mothers. Marriage has become outdated and old-fashioned. Instead they prefer companionship, which is not binding upon the man or woman. Children of such parents become dilinquents and drug addicts. The whole society is decaying and disintegrating so fast that they have reached a point of no return.

Western scholars have said, 'In human history the periods which have been plagued with decay and degeneration are those in which women have stepped outside their homes.' And another scholar states, 'I have firm belief that this world will transform into Heaven if women should be content in cherishing their children and fulfilling their domestic responsibilities.'

Our Holy Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) had warned His Ummah much earlier that, 'The worst period for the Muslims will be when they will be dominated by their women, who would be sole managers of their collective affairs.'

1) Jesus was accused by the Sanhedrin, a Jewish judicial body, of blasphemy because Jesus declared Himself the Son of God. The execution of the death sentence, the crucifixion, was carried out according to Roman law (Judea was a province of the Roman Empire at the time).

2) Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. His ressurecction and later ascension to heaven was witnessed by all His disciples.

3) Jesus said, no one can come to the Heavenly Father except through Him. He said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. Jesus said He and the Heavenly Father is One, meaning united as One.

God's law says the wages or payment of sin is death. The death of Jesus is the payment for ALL the sins of mankind. Without Jesus' death, mankind is LOST forever. That is why Jesus is also called the Redeemer, or the Savior. Because of the death of Jesus, mankind is made right or reconciled with God and eternal life is possible for those who remain faithful to Jesus in His Second Coming.

4) The Old Testament was a part of the Holy Bible written before Jesus' time. The New Testament was written describing the teachings and life of Jesus.

5) Joseph was Mary's husband because it was not proper for a woman to give birth without a husband.

6) Jesus died by crucifixion.
Afghan women are among the most beautiful in the w

I used to be a kid when a lot of Afghani people came to New Delhi (Capital of India) as refugees during late 70's and early 80's when Afghanistan was occupied by the Soviets. The Afghan women were very modern and bold those days as compared to the Delhi women. Their fashion and dressing sense was comparable to the western women. that gives me the hint that the women of Afghanistan were in good situation during the reign of King. It is only when Islamisation process started by the wahabbi mullahs and jehadis infiltrated from the Pakistan situation of women in Afghanistan started deteriorating and within 10 years they became what they are today. This is exactly the problem with any puritanical religious way of functioning. Their first victims are the women and young girls. They try to control them first to create their permanent fear among the general populace.

A WOMAN IN ISLAM: A woman is a flower vase of beauty and fragrance. So smell her gently, do not wrestle with her! - Imam Ali (as)
Women are like flowers. Do not put on them responsibilities they can not bear! - Imam Ali (as)
According to Islam, being a human, woman is even superior to angels and all other living organisms. If she performs any good task or deed, she will be equally blessed as much as a man will for his good deeds.
She is the benefactor and patron of Islam, as lady Khadija (Wife of Holy Prophet [saw]).
She is a partner of prophethood, as lady Fatima (Daughter of Holy Prophet [saw]).
She is one of the greatest leaders, as lady Zainab (Daughter of Imam Ali [as])
She superior to man, as a mother.
She's respectable like a saint.
She is precious like an expensive pearl.
She is honorable like a delicate rose.
Islam emphasizes the equality of all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or social status. Islam has prescribed different roles and responsibilities for men and women, with each gender complementing the other. Centuries before the modern world recognized women's rights, Islam acknowledged the equality of the two genders, and abolished the barbaric ritual of burying infant daughters alive, an outrageous crime practiced by the Arabs before the time of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
Islam made women aware of their rights and gave them an identity, a personality, freedom, and independence. These rights, among others, include the right to inherit, to own property, to obtain a divorce, to collect a dowry, and to gain child custody. Regarding the equality of the genders, the Holy Qur'an states:
"Surely the men who submit and the women who submit, and the believing men and the believing women, and the obeying men and the obeying women, and the truthful men and the truthful women, and the patient men and the patient women and the humble men and the humble women, and the almsgiving men and the almsgiving women, and the fasting men and the fasting women, and the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard, and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember-Allah has prepared, for them forgiveness and a mighty reward." (33:35)
Muslims consider four ladies to be the most noble and pious:
1. Aasiya - Wife of Fir'awn / Pharoah (peace be upon her)
2. Maryam / Mary - Mother of Isa / Jesus (peace be upon her)
3. Khadija - Wife of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon her)
4. Fatima - Daughter of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon her)
And the paradise is under the feet of your mothers. - Prophet Muhammad (saw)
Islam has greatly emphasized the issue of loving and respecting the parents, the father and the mother. In our infancy and childhood, we needed the protection, love and nurturing of the parents; but when they become old, they need us to protect them and take care of them.
"Your Lord has commanded that you shall not worship (anyone) but Him and to be good to the parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) 'Ugh' nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. And lower for them 'the wings of humility' out of mercy; and pray; 'O my Lord! Have mercy on them as they brought me up (when I was) little.'" (17:23-24)
However, out of the two, the mother has been given greater priority as far as kindness is concerned. Once Hakim bin Hizam came to the Prophet of Islam and asked: "To whom should I be kind?" The Prophet replied, "Your mother." Hakim asked, "Then to whom?" The Prophet said, "Your mother." Hakim asked, "Then to whom?" The Prophet replied, "Your mother." Only when Hakim asked the fourth time that, "Then to whom?" the Prophet replied, "Your father." This shows that the right of mother upon the children is three times more than the rights of father as far as kindness is concerned.
Imam Ali bin Hussain, the great-grandson of the Prophet, said: "Coming to the rights of relatives, it is the right of your mother that you should appreciate that she carried you [in her womb] as nobody carries anybody, and fed you the fruits of her heart which nobody feeds anybody, and protected you [during pregnancy] with her ears, hands, legs, hair, limbs, [in short] with her whole being, gladly, cheerfully and carefully; suffering patiently all the worries, pains, difficulties and sorrows [of pregnancy], till the hand of God removed you from her and brought you into this world."
"Then she was most happy feeding you, even if she herself had no clothes; giving you milk and water; not caring for her own thirst; keeping you in the shade, even if she had to suffer from the heat of the sun; giving you every comfort with her own hardship; lulling you to sleep while keeping herself awake."
"And [remember that] her womb was your abode, and her lap your refuge, and her breast your feeder, and her whole existence your protection; it was she, not you, who was braving the heat and cold of this world for your safety."
"Therefore, you must remain thankful to her accordingly, and you cannot do so except by the help and assistance from Allah."

Ibn Humayd—Salamah—Ibn Ishaq—‘Abdallah b. Abi Najih:

Then the Messenger of God proceeded to perform his pilgrimage, showing the people its rites and teaching them its customs. Then he addressed them in a speech and elucidated [certain things]. After he had praised and glorified God, he said, “O people, listen to my words. I do not know whether I shall ever meet you again in this place after this year. O people, your blood and your property are sacrosanct until you meet your Lord, just as this day and this month of yours are sacred. Surely you will meet your Lord and he will question you about your deeds. I have [already] made this known. ‘Let he who has a pledge return it to the one who entrusted him with it;’ all usury is abolished, but your capital belongs to you. Wrong not and you shall not be wronged.’ God has decreed that there will be no usury, and the usury of ‘Abbas b. ‘Abd al-Muttalib is abolished, all of it. All blood shed in pre-Islamic days is to be left unavanged. The first such claim I revoke is that of Ibn Rabi’ah b. al-Harith b. ‘Abd al-Muttalib, who was nursed among the Banu Layth and was slain by the Banu Hudhayl. His is the first blood shed in the pre-Islamic days with which I shall set an example. O people, indeed Satan despairs of ever being worshipped in this land of yours. He will be pleased, however, if he is obeyed in a thing other than that, in matters you minimize. So beware of him in your religion. O the unbelievers, O people, ‘Intercalating a month is an increase of unbelief whereby the unbelievers go astray; one year they make it profane, and hallow it another, [in order] to agree with the number that God has hallowed, and so profane what God has hallowed, and hallow what God has made profane.’ Time has completed its cycle [and is] as it was when the day that God created the heaven and the earth. ‘The number of the months with God is twelve: [they were] in the Book of God on the day He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred, the three consecutive [months] and the Rajab, [which is called the month of] Mudar, which is between Jumada (II) and Sha’ban.”

written by Zarbo , November 08, 2010
“Now then, O people, you have a right over your wives and they have a right over you. You have [the right] that they should not cause anyone of whom you dislike to tread your beds, and that they should not commit any open indecency (fahishah). If they do, then God permits you to shut them in separate rooms and to beat them, but not severely. If they abstain from [evil], they have the right to their food and clothing in accordance with custom (bi’l-maruf). Treat women well, for they are [like] domestic animals (‘awan) with you and do not possess anything for themselves. You have taken them only as a trust from God, and you have made the enjoyment of their persons lawful by the word of God, so understand and listen to my words, O people. I have conveyed the Message, and have left you with something which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray: that is, the Book of God and the sunnah of His Prophet. Listen to my words, O people, for I have conveyed the message and understand [it]. Know for certain that every Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, and that all Muslims are brethren. It is not lawful for a person [to take] from his brother except that which he has given him willingly, so do not wrong yourselves. O God, have I not conveyed the message?” It was reported [to me] that the people said, “O God, yes.” And the Messenger of God said, “O God, bear witness.”
