President Obama touched on an important idea this morning in his press conference dealing with Syria, the Boston bombing, and other political issues.  Alluding to the Tsarnaev brothers, he spoke of the trouble in identifying lone terrorists who may not be part of a terror network:

"One of the dangers we now face are self-radicalized individuals, who are already here in the United States, and in some cases may not be in any kind of network, but because of whatever warped and twisted ideas they may have decided to carry out an attack."

Think about the key words "...because of whatever warped and twisted ideas...." The President doesn't explain '"warped and twisted," but I will offer the following explanation. Something has to be the source of people having warped and twisted ideas.  For the Tsarnaev brothers, the source was Islamic supremacist jihad. All of the evidence being uncovered about the Tsarnaev brothers, especially the older brother, points toward the belief in the supremacy of Islam with violent jihad as a means to the end. Violent jihad is not the only weapon used by Islamic supremacists, but it is obviously the one chosen by the Tsarnaev brothers.

The bigger question is this: what attracts Muslims to believe Islam is morally right to use violent jihad to make their religion supreme in the world? It all began with Allah and his revelations as codified in the Qur'an. Allah not only condoned violence against the infidel in Muhammad's day, but he also revealed that he himself created terror in the hearts of the Jews in several chapters of the Qur'an. Allah also commanded his angels to "smite the necks and smite of them each finger" with reference to the polytheists Muhammad and his army fought in the Battle of Badr. Not only that, Allah took full responsibility for the victory at Badr: "Ye [Muslims] slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou [Muhammad] threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw, that he might test the believers by a fair test from Him" (Qur'an 8: 17).

Muhammad was a religious, political, and military leader. The Qur'an makes it quite clear that Islam is the supreme religion of Allah, while Muhammad is the final prophet and messenger of Allah. Unfortunately, Muhammad's approach to making Allah's religion supreme was full of violence toward the enemy infidels. After 10 years of researching the life of Muhammad, I found that, according to the earliest Islamic biographers and historians, he was responsible for the following:

Soon after Muhammad's death in 632 A.D., his closest companions followed in his footsteps, using violence to expand Muslim power in the world. Within 100 years, Muslim holy war had conquered Syria (including Lebanon, Samaria, Judea, Jordan), Persia (Iran), Mesopotamia (Iraq), Afghanistan, India, Transoxiana, northern Africa to include present day Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Spain in Europe.

They conquered in the name of Allah and Muhammad. The cry of victory," Allahu Akbar", simply means that Allah is the greatest and is superior to all other gods.  It has been used through the ages as a message to infidels (non-Muslims) that their beliefs are inferior to Islam.

Today's jihadists are no different. They strongly believe in Allah's supremacy and are determined to use any means necessary to make the world an Islamic one.

I don't think that President Obama agrees with my idea of the source of the Tsarnaev brothers' "warped and twisted ideas", but I'll continue to fight the uphill battle in the war of ideas.
