Materials captured in the 2011 US raid of Osama Bin Laden’s Abottabad residence in Pakistan was recently released by the CIA.

On Twitter scholar Hasan Hasan translated and commented upon some of this material.

Bin Laden maintained diary that charts his journey towards becoming the chief reviver of Islamic terrorism in the modern age. In it, he poses and answers a series of questions. In one he asks about who he would list as a religious influence. And he replies: "I was committed with the Muslim Brotherhood. Their resources were limited. I read Sira (prophet's biography).

The Muslim Brotherhood has been the pathway for many Muslims to Islamic Jihad. Al Qaeda's current leader and Bin Laden's deputy Al Zawahiri was also a Muslim Brotherhood activist.

The founder of the group that went on to morph into ISIS, Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, also mentions receiving financial support from Muslim Brotherhood followers.

The current spiritual leader of this group, Al Qaradawi, is hosted by the Qatari dictatorship and Sharia run country. This hardline Islamic Nation also hosts a Taliban diplomatic office.

Bin Laden further notes in relation to events of the past few years (as quoted by Hasan Hasan):

“Qaradawi, if he talks, that’ll help and boost popular confidence that the (Libyan) rebels are right. Qaradawi’s shift = Qaddafi is over.

“Al Jazeera, thank God, carries the banner of revolutions.”

In both of these cases Qatar is promoting the agenda of al Qaeda in fomenting Jihadist uprisings across the Arab world, firstly by hosting and supporting Qaradawi, and secondly by their Muslim Brotherhood agenda TV channel Al Jazeera, which, according to Bin Laden notes, is propagandising for Sunni Islamist revolutions.

It was the Muslim Brotherhood that set Bin Laden upon the path of Islamic fundamentalism applied to politics. The further trajectory towards terrorism can be gleaned from his immersion in Sira, the biography of Prophet Muhammad.

The story this prophetic biography sets out is one culminating in a declaration of war (jihad including terrorism) on all humanity and the dramatic and extremely violent spread of Islam that followed it.

One of the primary narrators of Sira, Ibn Hisham, narrates as to how Prophet Muhammad’s teachings set the Arabs on a path of warfare against all humanity to subjugate it to Islam (the religion of submission):

"Arabs are the most noble people in lineage, the most prominent, and the best in deeds. We were the first to respond to the call of the Prophet. We are Allah’s helpers and the viziers of His Messenger. We fight people until they believe in Allah. He who believes in Allah and His Messenger has protected his life and possessions from us. As for one who disbelieves, we will fight him forever in Allah’s Cause. Killing him is a small matter to us."

In Bin Laden’s notes we can see the motivations for his embrace of Islamic Jihad and his declaration of war upon America.

This is the revival of Islamic Jihad that has threatened humanity with violence and terrorism from its very advent by Muhammad Prophet, who claimed to have received divine command to violently subjugate humanity to Islam.
