Obama in Ramadan message to Muslims, said it's "a reminder of the principles Muslims and Christians have in common, including advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings." Let's get a flavor of the Islamic "justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings".

On the commencement of the so-called Islamic holy month of Ramadan, President Obama, following up with his peace-building Cairo Speech in June, broadcast a video message to congratulate Muslims. In the message, he told his audience that the fasting ritual of Ramadan is ‘a reminder of the principles Muslims and Christians have in common, including advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.’

While I’m, kind of, ignorant of Christian principles, I have some idea of what the Islamic principles as concerns the Ramadan are. Let me give you some idea of what the occasion of Ramadan stands for, from the propaganda pamphlets distributed by the Muslim League to excite the Indian Muslims to initiate Direct Action on 16 August 1946 at Calcutta to press the demand for creating Islamic Pakistan, dividing India:

Muslims must remember that it was in Ramzam that the Quran was revealed. It was in Ramzan that the permission for Jehad was granted. It was in Ramzam that the battle of Badr, the first open conflict between Islam and Heathenism [i.e., idolatry, which equates Hinduism] was fought and won by 313 Muslims; and again it was in Ramzan that 10,000 under the Holy Prophet conquered Mecca and established the kingdom of Heaven and the commonwealth of Islam in Arabia. Muslim League is fortunate that it is starting its action in this holy month.

Muslims duly responded to the direct actions, engaging in massacres, rape, plunder and arson, in the spirit of the Prophet, which racked up 5,000 dead-bodies… And, of course, this initiated waves of sustained violence and massacre, lasting one-and-a-half years, claiming up to two million lives and much more…

We have two essays on what the Islamic holy month of Ramadan is all about, which are worth reading every time Ramadan comes by:
