When Islamist suicide bombers blow themselves up in crowds of people, or when Islamist jihadists die fighting infidels, they believe that Allah will be pleased that they were involved in killing unbelievers, and will reward them with access to Islamic Paradise for the rest of eternity.
This is a theologically identical idea to the Aztec concept that when their priests sacrificed as many as people as they could to one of their deities, that deity would be pleased by those human sacrifices.
