How the Quran allows marriages with grandmothers and granddaughters, and how Muslims, who claim themselves to be the only thinking people, think too much to twist the real and clear meaning of the unethical or erroneous Quranic verses to their liking...
Muslims love to say that the Quran is for people, who are thinking-minded, as if non-Muslims were idiots, who do not use their brains. They will make this claim despite the fact that non-Muslims today comprise a civilization that powered more by brain and thinking than the Muslim civilization. In other words, it is actually the Muslims, who appear less inclined to think and use their brains. The same applies to their reading and understanding the Quran.
In order to make it obvious, let me first ask this question: Is it ok to marry and have sex with your grandmothers or your granddaughters?
Most right-thinking people will emphatically answer "no", which is the correct answer morally.
Now let us read what Quran says about whom the Muslims can marry in An Nisa 4:23-24. Prohibited to you (For marriage) are
-
- Your mothers, daughters, sisters;
- father's sisters, Mother's sisters;
- brother's daughters, sister's daughters;
- foster-mothers (Who gave you suck), foster-sisters; your wives' mothers;
- your step-daughters under your guardianship, born of your wives to whom ye have gone in,- no prohibition if ye have not gone in;-
- (Those who have been) wives of your sons proceeding from your loins; and two sisters in wedlock at one and the same time, except for what is past; for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful;-
- Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess:
Thus hath Allah ordained (Prohibitions) against you: Except for these, all others are lawful, provided ye seek (them in marriage) with gifts from your property,- desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that ye derive benefit from them, give them their dowers (at least) as prescribed; but if, after a dower is prescribed, agree Mutually (to vary it), there is no blame on you, and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.
So, a Muslim can have sex with any women, except those listed above, as long as he marries the woman and give the dowry.
Now, if one uses her/his brain and think carefully about the verse, he/she will find that grandmothers and granddaughters are not on the list. Consequently, a Muslim can marry and have sex with them lawfully. Here is another instance, where Islam allows Muslims to engage in incest.
This certainly a disgusting thing to do; and most Muslims today will also likely not approve this consequence of the verse 4:23-24. But they can not deny that Allah allows it. Otherwise, they have to say: Allah made a mistake in the Quran.
Some Muslims have offered a feeble argument that since your mother is unlawful because of blood relation, then the mother of your mother automatically becomes unlawful because of the blood relations. Similarly, granddaughter becomes prohibited, because she is the daughter of your daughter.
This argument does not stand, because the above verses allow first cousin marriage, although there is common blood between first cousins. And cousin marriage is morally acceptable to all Muslims.
When your aunt, like your mother, is unlawful because of blood relations, your aunt’s daughters, i.e. your first cousins, should also be unlawful using the same principle. So, Islam’s sanction of cousin marriage nullifies the above argument against granddaughter/grandmother marriage on the ground of blood relations.
So what the Muslim will do? Back to square one: They will say that the Quran is for the thinking people. They will argue that we are thinking people and do not accept what it literally and clearly says or allows. Instead, what we Muslims, the thinking people, think about the Quran is what is correct. In other word, just ignore what the Quran clearly says, because Islam is for thinking people, and we the thinking Muslims think and judge what is right and what is wrong. So much the Quran is the perfect divine guidance for the mankind!
Instead of accepting that there could be errors in the Quran, Muslims change what the Quran really says and boast that there is no error in the Quran. That’s is their way of being and claiming to be the people who think. Yeah, right! The real, logically, thinking people have no choice but to conclude that Muslims think, but stupidly or dishonestly.
