‘RAYYAN’—THE SPEACIAL ‘GATE’ OF PARADISE FOR THOSE WHO FAST

As human beings, we imagine the ‘Supreme Force’, if exists, as kind and invisible, and the heaven as unimaginably full of peace and spiritual joy. But Muhammad made our Islamic Heaven very much earthly, having walls, gates and gate-keepers. It is also very materialistic in earthly sense with the promise of unbounded supply of fruits, milk, honey, and sealed wine with Allah’s tag on it, golden cots decorated with pearls and specially created sex machines, the houris or eternal virgins etc. It is nothing but stupendous teaching suitable for the stupid. Not even uncivilized tribes will accept such childish ideas of the Divine Abode today. The following hadiths speak about such stupendous teachings of the gates of heaven.

  1. Allah's Messenger said: In Paradise there is a gate which is called Rayyan, through which only the observers of fast would enter on the Day on Resurrection. It would be proclaimed: Where are the observers of fast that they should be admitted into it? And when the last of them would enter, it would be closed and no one would enter it. (Sahih Muslim 6:2569)
  2. Narrated Sahl: The Prophet said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, 'Where are those who used to observe fasts?' They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:120)

What we learn from the above hadiths is that fasting is all that is required for us Muslims to enter Allah’s paradise. In other words, practicing of no other Islamic rituals is required for Muslims to find a covetous seat in Allah’s Paradise. Then why should we unnecessarily waste our valuable time on prayers five times a day, the mid-night prayers and others through our whole life? Why do we waste our wealth on obligatory Zakat and Hajj? Why do we trouble ourselves with the dangerous and untold sixth pillar of Islam, namely Jihad?

Only Allah and his Messenger know best…!

Dear brothers! There are numerous such contradictory hadiths on various subjects in Islamic scriptures. For example, Muhammad said that it is enough to enter paradise simply by uttering the first pillar of Islam, the ‘Shahaada’. (Sahih Muslim 1:172) (Sahih Al-Bukhar 1:130-131)

Then why do we even fast unnecessarily?

FASTING IS FOR ME; I WILL GIVE REWARD - ALLAH

The following hadiths need to be read carefully:

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "….. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:118)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.'…… (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:128)

ALL ISLAMIC RITUALS OTHER THAN FASTING FOR MUHAMMAD OR FOR SATAN?

We Muslims think that we pray, fast, pay Zakat and go for Hajj etc. for the sake of Allah in trying to please Him. But the above hadith states something shocking. Allah says in it that fasting alone is for Him and He will give rewards for it. If it is so, then to whom do we offer our other rituals? For Muhammad or Satan?

Why did Muhammad’s companions offer prayers in his Medina mosque that was part of his house?

For whom did they offer the mid-night prayer in his Mosque the year round?

For whose benefit did they pay the zakat?

For whom did they take part in jihad and sacrificed their lives?

What role did Allah play in the development of Islamic rituals other than the observance of fasting?

Were all these rituals devised by Muhammad himself for the sake of his own benefit?

My brothers! Please think it over. Fasting is the only rituals that Allah values. Except fasting, all other Islamic rituals are not important to Allah and were invented purely to benefit Muhammad. This does not mean that the ritual of fasting itself is truly a divine one, i.e. one from Allah the Almighty Creator. We have seen that fasting was imposed by Muhammad copying first from the Pagans (Ashura on 10th Muharram), then from the Jews (Yom Kippur) and finally the month-long Ramadan fasting, copying from the Sabians. It becomes obvious that Muhammad wanted to formulate his creed based on rituals—similar to those the people of Arabia already practised. And although Muhammad hastily and deceptively announced 30 days of fasting in Ramadan in order to distance his creed from the Jews, who were becoming increasing critical of Islam and annoying, he soon found that it became a hurdle for him on his way to plunder and prosper. And to reduce or get rid of burden of fasting, he even disregarded Allah’s liking for it and demoted the importance of fasting in Islam. Thus, he undermined the doctrine of fasting that he himself had created. The following hadiths testify to the various ways of Muhammad’s undermining the system of Ramadan fasting. These hadiths express his dissatisfaction over the ritual of fasting in Islam.

Before analyzing those hadiths, let us first familiarize ourselves with the two-faced characteristics of Allah and Muhammad, which is the main source of the deception doctrine of ‘Taqiyya’ in Islam. This ‘Taqiyya’ deception is the foundation of Islam, which the Mullahs have generously used on us Muslims as well as on non-Muslims over the past fourteen centuries, allowing Islam to sustain and prosper.

DOUBLE-TONGUED ALLAH

In Islamic scriptures, there are always two or more contradictory views on almost every issue. For example, the author of the Quran, supposedly Allah the God, expresses His contradictory views on religious tolerance in the following verses:

1) Allah the merciful – on religious tolerance:

  • “You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.” (Quran, Sura Al-Kaafiroon 109:6)
  • “…there is no compulsion in religion” (Quran, Sura Baqara 2:257)
  • “…call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and have disputations with them in the best manner” (Quran, Sura An-Nahl 16:125)

2) Allah the dictator – on religious tolerance:

  • ‘... kill the idolaters wherever you find them; take them prisoner, lay siege to them, and wait for them in every ambush’ (Quran, Sura At-Tauba 9:5)
  • “and whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted to him”. (Quran 3:85).
  • “Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgement of superiority and they are in a state of subjection”. (Quran, Sura At-Tauba 9:29)
  • “O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil)”.  (Quran, Sura At-Tauba 9:123)

DOUBLE-TONGUED MUHAMMAD – ON FASTING!

Likewise there are hadiths, in which Muhammad ‘The Saviour of Muslims’ praised Ramadan fasting so as to make his cult a ‘feel good’ divine religion. And also, there are hadiths where charlatan Muhammad guides Muslims to get rid of the burdens of fasting.

1) Muhammad the saviour – on fasting:

1a. FASTING – ONE OF FIVE PILLARS

  • Five principles of Islam: Believe in Allah & his messenger. Offer the compulsory congregational prayers. Pay compulsory Zakaat. Perform Hajj. Observe fast of Ramadan. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 1:7)
  • Muhammad ordered to do 4 things to the delegation of Abdul Qais: To testify none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger. To offer prayers perfectly. To pay Zakaat. To observe fast during Ramadaan. To pay Al-Khumus (One fifth of booty to be given in Allah’s cause). (SAHIH Al-Bukhari 1:87)

1b. FAST FOR 30 DAYS IN RAMADAN

Narrated Talha bin 'Ubaid-Ullah: A bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! … Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards fasting." He replied, "You have to fast during the whole month of Ramadan…"  (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:115)

1c. FASTING ANNULS ALL PREVIOUS SIN

  • Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “… whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:125)
  • Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven…." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:231)

2) Muhammad the charlatan – on fasting

2a. TEMPORARY RELIEF FROM FASTINGS

Narrated Nafi: Ibn 'Umar recited the verse: "They had a choice either to fast or to feed a poor person for every day, and said that the order of this Verse was cancelled. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:170)

2b. GET PROSPERITY EVEN AFTER BREAKING FAST IN HASTE

Allah's Messenger said: The people will continue to prosper as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast. (Sahih Muslim 6:2417)

{Muhammad was obviously keen on minimizing the duration of the fast by recommending to eat just before the break of dawn and then hastening to break the fast ASAP after sunset.}

2c. JIHAD FIRST; SO BREAK YOUR FAST

The Prophet said: You are going to encounter the enemy in the morning and breaking of the fast would give you strength, so break the fast. As it was a point of stress, so we broke the fast. (Sahih Muslim 6:2486)

2d.  JIHAD IS EASIER THAN FASTING & PRAYING

The Messenger of Allah was asked: What deed could be an equivalent of Jihad in the way of Allah? He answered: You do not have the strength to do that deed. One who goes out for Jihad is like a person who keeps fasts, stands in prayer constantly, obeying Allah's behests contained in the verses of the Qur'an, and does not exhibit any lassitude in fasting and prayer until the Mujihid (Soldier of Islam) returns from Jihad in the way of Allah. (Sahih Muslim 20:4636)

2e.  DON’T FAST WHILE TRAVELLING

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: Allah's Apostle was on a journey and saw a crowd of people, and a man was being shaded (by them). He asked, "What is the matter?" They said, "He (the man) is fasting." The Prophet said, "It is not righteousness that you fast on a journey." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:167)

2f.  DON’T FAST ON FRIDAY

Muhammad’s ultimate struggle was to expand his domain by raiding the settlements bordering the territories under his control. He used to announce his plans for Jihad raids, devised strategies and organized those raids during his Friday sermons. He compelled Muslims from far places to attend his mosque at Medina to listen and obey his military orders. So, he did not want any of his followers to skip the Friday prayer at his mosque on excuses of physical weakness resulting from fasting. So he forbade fasting on Fridays, except in the month of Ramadan.

Narrated Muhammad bin 'Abbas: I asked Jabir "Did the Prophet forbid fasting on Fridays?" He replied, "Yes." (Other narrators added, "If he intends to fast only that day.") (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:205-207)

2g.  DOUBLE REWARD FOR NON-FASTING MUSLIMS IN RAMADAN

We are told by our Mullahs that however hard we try, it is impossible for us to reach the level of virtues of the Sahaaba in religion. The following few hadiths reveals the ‘religiosity’ of our Sahaaba in the matter of fasting. Compare yourself with the Sahaaba after reading this. You will realize that you are higher in your devotion to fasting than both Muhammad and the Sahaaba.

Narrated Abu Ad-Darda: We set out with Allah's Apostle on one of his journeys on a very hot day, and it was so hot that one had to put his hand over his head because of the severity of heat. None of us was fasting except the Prophet and Ibn Rawaha. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:166)

From the above hadith, it is clear that none among the Sahaaba observed fast on that day except one.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: We used to travel with the Prophet and neither did the fasting persons criticize those who were not fasting, nor did those who were not fasting criticize the fasting ones. (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:168)

The above hadith makes it clear that it didn’t matter to the Sahaaba whether some of them fasted and other didn’t. It also makes clear that many of the Sahaaba didn’t fast, which Muhammad knew very well.

Narrated Anas: We were with the Prophet (on a journey) and the only shade one could have was the shade made by one's own garment. Those who fasted did not do any work and those who did not fast served the camels and brought the water on them and treated the sick and (wounded). So, the Prophet said, "Today, those who were not fasting took (all) the reward." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 4:140)

In this hadith, Muhammad clearly encouraged his disciples to stay away from fasting by saying that the non-fasting Muslims will get all rewards, even the rewards of the fasting Muslims. Those, who fasted on that tough day, gained nothing out of it.

2h.  DON’T FAST THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IT WILL UNDERMINE MY MISSION. – MUHAMMAD

The introduction of fasting during Ramadan, messed up Muhammad’s mission of conquering the settlements surrounding his territory. So, he was seeking every possible way to demote the importance of fasting in Islam. During that time, one of his gullible companions gave much importance to the words of our prophet and tried his best to fast round the year and devote to praying as seriously as he could. When heard about it, Muhammad got wild and immediately sent for him as the following hadith narrates:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: The news of my daily fasting and praying every night throughout the night reached the Prophet. So he sent for me and I met him, and he said, "I have been informed that you fast everyday and pray every night (all the night). Fast (for some days) and give up fasting (for some days)…… So, the Prophet said, twice, "Whoever fasts daily throughout his life is just as the one who does not fast at all." (Sahih Al-Bukhari 3:198)

Muhammad knew that if his companions would take his religion as seriously as this Sahaaba, that will derail his mission of expanding his territory; his whole mission will collapse. So, he discouraged him against too much fasting and praying by saying that there will be no salvation for a man who fasts and prays daily throughout his life. However, he encouraged attaining Salvation through other means, particularly by Jihad terrorism and bloodbath for helping Muhammad in establishing supposedly Allah’s rule over the whole earth. In return, they would attain salvation by getting a place in Allah’s brothel-like Paradise.

PARADISE IS GUARANTEED TO THE KILLERS OF INFIDELS

  1. Anyone who kills an infidel is guaranteed Paradise. (Abu Dawud 2.2489, p.690; also see Abu Dawud vol. 2, footnote 1843, p.691
  2. "…you should know that Paradise is under the shade of swords." (Abu Dawud 2.2625, p.727)
  3. Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to Allah’s Apostle and said, “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” He replied, “I do not find such a deed.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari 4:44)

CONCLUSION

We see that Allah Himself established fasting as the all-important cardinal ritual of Islam in his ‘Holy’ book. Yet, our beloved prophet clearly and repeatedly deemphasized the importance of fasting. In other words, our prophet showed scant regard for the Almighty Creator of the universe.

Of course, discussions in previous articles make it clear that Allah from the high up had nothing to do with Ramadan fasting that Muhammad introduced. It was his own devising, following what different religious communities of Arabia already practised. After adopting and discarding first the Mecca’s Pagan fasting of Ashura, then the Jewish Yom Kippur fasting, Muhammad adopted the Sabian Ramadan month-long fasting in haste to distance his religion from Judaism. But he didn’t realize beforehand that the month-long fasting would have negative consequences on his mission as soon afterward raiding and plundering became the means of earning livelihood and expanding dominion for hin and his community. So, Muhammad tried hard to undermine ‘Allah’s ordinance’ of fasting in all kinds of ways, clearly illustrated in the hadiths discussed above.

In the proceeding articles, we will discuss about Muhammad’s sexual urges during fasting, Muhammad and Aisha’s style of fasting, and Muhammad’s continuous fast without break etc.
